So normally characters that are not unbreakable are not allowed to join unbreakable units.
"Characters that are not themselves Unbreakable are not permitted to join units that are (even if a character was to become temporarily Unbreakable for some reason, because of a spell or suchlike)." [BRB page 78]
Lord Kroak has the following special rule:
"Eternity Guardians: If Lord Kroak joins a unit of Temple Guard, all models in the combined unit gain the Unbreakable special rule." [Lizardmen AB page 52]
So if Lord Kroak is in a unit of Temple Guard, than a character (let's arbitrarily use the example of an Oldblood) is not permitted to join said unit. However, what if the Oldblood is already part of the unit and Lord Kroak joins them? Assuming that Kroak is allowed to join the unit, the unit (including the Oldblood) would immediately gain the Unbreakable special rule. The BRB rule specifically disallows temporarily unbreakable characters from joining unbreakable units, however the Oldblood is already part of the unit (and when he joined, the unit was not unbreakable).
So with that in mind:
1. Can Lord Kroak join a Temple Guard unit with an Oldblood already in it?
2. If the answer to question #1 is yes, then could an Oldblood and Kroak simultaneously join a unit of Temple Guard during deployment?
3. If the answer to question #1 is no, then would Kroak simply not be allowed to join said unit, or would the Oldblood be booted from the unit upon Kroak joining? [I'm guessing the former]
I feel it shouldn't be allowed because Kroak always carries the Unbreakable special rule (even when not in Temple Guard) so he and the Oldblood would be prevented from joining the same group together. Just as the Oldblood couldn't form a unit with Kroak alone (a Kroak + Oldblood character unit). In any event, I wanted to double check and see what people thought of it. It feels wrong to me, but I've heard it argued before.
