Greeting fellow WFB addicts!
I've been meaning to write a 'hello' post when I joined the forums a few months ago, but decided it would be better to snap a few pics that could go along with it. Hence the birth of this little blog.
So a few words about me: I've been collecting and playing warhamer since the late 90's. I went through quite a few different armies: Undead, Wood Elves, High Elves, Empire.... Some of them I still own others were sold off years ago (much regrets). I got into playing an all-goblin (or rather non-orc) force in 7th ed, when the new NG plastics arrived with BFSP. I liked the idea of playing on 'hard mode' and since I am a big Tolkien fan, I liked pitching the little green tide against my friends High Elves. Somehow painting goblins turned out to be really addicting and as of now they are my only mostly painted fantasy force. The army clocks at around 2250 points including upgrades and I use it mostly to play 8th, with the occasional game of 9th age here and there. I've used to run a blog on the old TWF boards, but the forum is gone I think.
But enough with the talking and onto the pics:
So first up my Warlord: Agaricomycetes, a great goblin philosopher and tactician. Using my favourite old Skarsnik model. This is the only picture that's old, as I've chipped his nose while taking a new one yesterday (sad face).
BSB. I've stripped his banner 3 times I think. Freehand is hard man!
Shamans. One stock and one kitbashed.
Big Boss - usually goes with the spears.
His trusty spear block, 50 strong.
Spinning surprise!
Wolf boyz. First to be deployed and first to panic off the table.
Closely followed by these brave lads. One day they will amount to something great, I am sure.
Scratch built chariot. I have like a ton of spiders but very few wolves ... seemed like a waste! I try to explain it that the goblins breed a different type of very fast, but venomless spider.
The squigs are meant to come from caves so deep that they have effectively lost all pigment in their skin. Inspired by deep sea critters. I can imagine that sunlight makes them rather angry!
The fanatic delivery system.
This is got to be the silliest war machine apart from the hot pot. Love that miniature!
More scratch built warmachines. Took ages, but saved me a couple of $. Not sure I would bother nowadays. They either do something amazing, or are a complete waste of points, no in-between!
Another NG brick. This one usually serves as my character bunker, hence the H&S combo. All converted from the BFSP goblins.
There is a total of 120 goblin infantry models in the army. And I still own 200 unpainted ones....help meee.
Latest addition to the army - a worlord/big boss on spider. I MIGHT have overdone the trophy rack a bit. He's magnetized as I hope to get him a bigger spider someday....speaking of which...
A really big spider this time. I absolutely HATED painting this thing, more of a rank-and-file man myself. It is a nice centerpiece though. No idea how would I have painted it without an airbrush, even though I suck at using it.
Big Chief Bigfoot on his howdah.
Trolls! Another unit painted this year. I dreaded tackling them, but actually turned out really fun. I couldn't work out a colour scheme for them for more then 2 years. Really pushed myself with these, used the airbrush to basecoat, then glazed them with greens and blues and then layered and layered and layered.... . Need to varnish them still.
Back rank, the middle one is my favourite. Converted using green stuff and the tree trunk from the giant kit. Loves playing baseball using squigs. Or anything else really...
The army as it stands right now.
Wellp. That's that. Sorry for the amount of pictures! I hope to add something more to the army this year, but it's probably gonna be something small. Or I might paint a giant, who knows?
Cheers!
