Just found out about this today, what are your guys thoughts on it? It's more 8th than anything else and you still use 8th ed army books.
It's made by Matthias eliason, same guy who made all those army supplements like Cathay and araby and estalia and that awesome pirate book and he is bringing back dogs of war.
If you guys already know of it do you like it or prefer it over 9th age?
I am a 8th fanatic like y'all but I still need something on the side to blend in with the herd of cattle....
Cause I like to go moo sometimes..

I personally like it and think it's a great labor of love. I have downloaded a couple of his books but never actually printed or played any of them. I plan on getting round to it eventually.
I think it's great that he has he has done army lists for Estalia and the like. Id love some more feedback from people who have tried some of these lists.
For Dogs of War i just use the original 5th Edition book with some adjustments/buffs to make it better for 8th.

I have used the estalia book and it's really good. There are certain combos considered OP when compared to the empire but it's well done imo. There is actual inquisition based off the Spanish inquisition and it's cool with there rule about having them with wizards. They have generic elite female characters that can give a sort of buff blessing which is cool. They have conquistadors woot woot!
For me personally though I don't like how in his version he takes out supporting attacks and the horde rule, he says he did this to make spears more of a viable choice in this edition. He also gave spears a initiative bonus, which I like and think is enough since the asf and asl Rules just give + or- to initiative now respectively.
There was one more thing he did that I did not care for but I can't remember....the no supporting attacks rule nor horde is a big enough change for me not wanting to play it honestly.
He made a lot of other really cool rules though that make sense and balance out other tactics better. Like you can still win and get bonuses with a horde unit you just don't get the extra rank of attacks.

I didnt realise that he had asjusted some core 8th rules in his books. I had thought the books were pure 8th given the front cover and layout. If i was to use the books i would probably just use 8th rules incl supporting attacks etc but try all his units and point values and go from there. An initiative bonus for spears seems fair enough. 8th Edition is the 'fullest' version of Warhammer yet and great fan made initiatives like the Warhammer armies project enable people to theme armies from the less fleshed out Warhammer world areas like Nippon and Estalia etc and make the game world even 'fuller'. This imo can only be a good thing and i wholely support such an endevour. I would happily play against someone using his army books. Any OP things can always be adjusted by the players the important thing is to have a solid foundation to build on and imo Matthias is certainly providing that. It is things like his works and KevinC's Grom expansion which help keep the Warhammer World exciting and fresh! Care to post your Estalia army list? Which models do you use for your Estalians?

Oh I miscommunicated Matthias' estalia is purely 8th, those changes are from his 9th edition rules. The estalia book is 100% pure 8th with pikes as a new weapon.
No it's very well done, I have estalia printed out but I don't have any models for them. I played them twice using someone else's empire as proxy, yeah will do another post with my fav list.

There are two major projects on that website. one is a lot of 'boutique' army books for all the forgotten corners of the world, these are proper 8h edition fan books. The other is he came out with his own version of warhammer 8.5 or 8.1 or 9 or whatever you want to call it. But, I don't know if you will be able to go 'moo' with that ruleset. Seems to me the 9th Age is by far the biggest of these 8th edition derivatives springing up like mushrooms everywhere.
