I think I'm playing Brett on Thursday night and I'd like to see him playtest this character. Let's get this thing ironed out. Let's get valazaar and KevinC's designs combined and agree on something. EEFL unity.

S4 T4or5 W3 A2 frenzy
I like the Scorn of Scorcery idea from the AoS unit but I think the prayers are crap. I don't feel like the model/unit needs to be so close to the AoS version anyway because AoS is based in a different/fake world.
My take is that he should be big/tough (engorged by Khorne, blood, something...sorta like a human boner for Khorne), resistant to magic, hatred against magical things, some innate dispel that would make him a good option for mono-Khorne lists (maybe like dwarves). Perhaps heroic KB. He should have bound prayers and abilities that inspire other Khorne units to slaughter.
On second glance, I like KevinC's 2nd prayer but I don't agree with the magic missile in the other slot.

Here is an updated version. I changed quite a bit. For me it is still a hero choice, but with its points raised to 250. I also removed the bound spells, because in mono Khorne list it is useless for the simple reason it's easly dispelled by an opposing player (with one Slaughterpriest you have only two spell attempts.. which is not enough to deplete most opposing dispel pool). The only reliable method to get one of his bound spells of is try to roll max dice in the hope to get a double 6.. . I do think he belongs on a 40mm base in the same way as Blightkings, wrathmongers, skullreapers and the two ET special characters. I used Kevins idea: the -1 to cast within 12" for wizards, but made it stackable with other Slaughterpriests. Also added Favoured Son of Khorne special rule. For me a Slaughterpriest is a step higher on Khorne's ladder in comparison with an Exalted Hero of Khorne.. They are truely the Chosen of Khorne. Same as the Skullgrinder, which also needs its own profile. I intend to use the Slaughterpriest in a pure mono Khorne army. Here is my latest version.

I would have thought that with the bonus of powerdice over dispel dice you could occassionally sneak one through albeit not reliably like you said. 250 points is a lot. Looking forwards to seeing your updated version. I agree with jerkface that it would be great to have an agreed upon eefl version of the slaughterpriest. Also post your pictures Vazalaar once you have assembled/painted him.

Hmm, it's a dropbox link. It should work, but I will upload it here too. Slaughterpriest V2.pdf (167.05 KB) If you play a mono Khorne list, your only spellcaster is the Slaughterpriest. One Slaughterpriest has only 2 bound spells, each bound spell can only be cast once. So you have only two attempts. Two casting attempts are not enough to deplete the opposing dispel pool, certainly not as he has atleast one level 2 or more likely a level 4. I use Furion rules for the 8th edtion core rules (Magic: Max 5 power dice per casting attempt - no Miscasts / Irresistible Force on casting or dispelling with 2 dice) So the only viable tactic is trying to roll with max dice a double 6 and that feels a bit cheesy for me. Also my previous version of the slaughterpriest with bound spells cannot channel and has no to cast bonus.

Make both prayers more powerful and power level 8. This is Khorne-esque and encourages throwing a fist full of dice.

Khorne-esque is bashing the closest wizard with your axe. Throwing max power dice at a bound spell has almost no drawbacks, as you can't miscast. His magic phase just ends. If anything a Slaughterpriest should inspire nearby Mark of Khorne units with the amount of blood he spills in close combat and not because he starts praying.

Vazalaar, I still think your Slaughterpriest is too good.
I modified the previous one as follows (see my previous post on page 2 of this thread for the full rules): • I want to keep him a Hero choice, but T5 & W3. • Modified the prayers and added a third. • May ride a warshrine • Still only 2 Attacks, but 3 with his Mark of Khorne, and you can give him an additional hand weapon for 4. • S4 makes you choose higher attacks or higher Strength, while keeping his tough (T5 + W3).
Thoughts?

@kevin, I can agree on your version;)
But I still have a couple of suggestions.
I would change light armour to Chaos armour. My first version had no armour, because the model has almost no visible armour. But than I thought Skullreapers, Wrathmongers and the ET special character Skarr have also almost no visible armour, but do have Chaos armour ingame. Thus I see Chaos armour of mix armour and hardened skin.. . If barely armoured wizard models have chaos armour, than he surely should have chaos armour too. Imo all Chaos characters should have chaos armour as standard.
Maybe when on a 25mm base he should have toughness 4 and w2, but add a special rule "Towering Brute or Hulking Brute" as an option. Which means 40mm base, +1 toughness, +1 wound and +1 attacks for x points.
If we keep him as a prayer caster. I think we should try to get gim 4 different prayers. So he has some diversity and makes it harder for the opponent to dispel all of them.

Agreed on the 4 prayers, just like a corrupted warrior priest. Sorry I'm just not feeling the 40mm base as it causes problems with ranking with other units though I do think your Brute rule is interesting. Also yes to chaos armor for all chaos characters.

If you do the brute idea and 40mm base why not have him join a unit of skullreapers or wrathmongers ? That would work out nicely imo

That would work out nicely imo Indeed or even some Khornate Chaos ogres could be joined! 40mm as opposed to 25mm in game can be both an advantage and a disadvantage so for this particular model I think both should be available options as seen by this thread having different preferences. I don't think an ingame stat upgrade for points should be needed to base the slaughterpriest on 40mm as opposed to 25mm. What if i want to use the boosted version on a 25mm or the normal one on a 40mm. I like the option of the stat upgrade being available i just dont think it should be base size dependent. The model is the same size regardless and would still be 'infantry' on the 40mm.

So then we are talking about a hero and lord level version of this guy?

Everyone makes some great points, I've updated the profile I wrote on page two of this thread.
The changes brought him more in line with Vazalaar's version: • Profile is the same a vas's but with 3 base attacks rather than 4. • 40 mm base • Chaos armour • Magic Resistance (1)
I left him with three prayers...why do you guys think he should have 4?
I think he should remain a Hero level character.

I'm playing mine on 25mm. 40mm is just too odd unless you are using the 40mm units. 25 makes him an easier sell.
