My vote is for number 1 but with the bright green weapon grip from number 2.

I like them both but would say the second one.

After receiving several comments from others on various forums and spending a little time mulling it over, I think that I'll be going with the one on the right. The paint scheme for the one on the left is very similar to the rest of my army, but I want this unit to be a little different. Stand out a little more. The colors used aren't so different from the other pallet, but enough to make a notable change.
I will be most likely using them with a GW Captain toting the Moonstone of Hidden Ways. I imagine them popping out of the shadows of a deep wood and striking quickly while hitting hard, then fading back into the shadows and reappearing somewhere else to do it all again. The paint scheme on the left "feels" more appropriate to that play style to me.

Looks good. I know I have told you this on other units but I like the way you do your bases.

I appreciate that! Bases are one thing that I really don't care to do and usually come last but have the potential to completely change the model and tell a story.
The method I use is rather simple though. 1. paint the base brown. 2. spread PVA glue all over the top of the base. 3. sprinkle Gale Force 9 rocks over the base and let dry. 4. paint the rocks brown. 5. drybrush the rocks a lighter color. I usually use Rakarth Flesh. 6. apply PVA glue to spots where I want grass. I don't cover the entire top, usually draw lines with the glue and then spread it with a Q-Tip. 7. sprinkle grass on glue and let dry. 8. I might add in a few small pieces of Pine Bark to make the "rocks".
It goes a lot faster than it sounds. The longest part is waiting for the glue to dry.

Wow. So it's been almost a full year since I last posted anything on this page. That really tells me how long it's been since I delved into my Wood Elves. And I know there are other armies that have been even longer. Ah well. I'm getting back into it. Without further ado, here is my completed 20 elf unit of Wildwood Rangers. (I have another box of 10 that I haven't opened yet, but hope to do real soon.)

Just found this thread. Excellent work. 20 years ago the wood elves were treehuggers and the dark elves were cool. In eight edition I have the feeling that the dark elves didn't evolve but the wood elved got a feral makeover. They look deadly and these colour schemes and conversions really bring that out.

What is that from? Is that a Mierce or Raging Heroes model? The tree bits look suitably.... treeie The 2 head options look very different to each other if i am looking at the bits properly.
