I've finished off the hobgoblins from last months pledge and got 2 trays made for them (6x5 and 3x10). That takes my Chaos Dwarfs to 2 complete regiments, edging towards fieldable! I still need to knock up a banner for them (and Grom) so think I will knock up 3 banners once my Orc boyz standard is painted

Good work! and lots of it. That's quite a bit of glorious metal miniatures. I like the way you did the black coats. And you will do an elaborate old-fashioned paper banner, yes?

They look great! How DID you do their black robes? Every time I try to weather black robes, they turn out looking dusty.

Cheers Good work! and lots of it. That's quite a bit of glorious metal miniatures. I like the way you did the black coats. And you will do an elaborate old-fashioned paper banner, yes? I will probably do an old school banner along these lines, but I don't tend to use paper these days, I use thin bits of green stuff cut to size I'm thinking more along the lines of the bottom image since I'm not sure yellow will go too well with my colour scheme They look great! How DID you do their black robes? Every time I try to weather black robes, they turn out looking dusty. I tend to mix in a bit of grey with the black to start with (Mechanicus Standard) then just highlight with progressively lighter greys mixed in (like Codex etc) I've managed to get a fair way through my Orc Boyz so far this month so it might be time to start building some Earthshakers!

Having some trouble deciding which way to go with my Orc BSB banner. I have sketched out a patchwork style option. Obviously the final version would have better sigils I think you get the idea though.. Or is simplicity the better option with a good old evil sunz design and some battle damage. I'm a bit worried the patchwork will look a bit too busy? Any thoughts?

I thought the banner was meant to be a wyvern's wing, which would make it odd that imperial artists had painted their flags onto it?

I like the dwarf and human banner idea. Something very different though it might be easier to align the right hand flags with the existing contours of the banner on the model.

That's a Wyvern's wing?!? I always assumed that it was a patchwork of Empire banners.
I still like the idea of human banners, just because they're like waving trophies of their defeated enemies and adding to it. I don't know of much more that'd be inspiring for O&G.

I also like the sketch up of the human banners. It would match the mish mash of trophies that are on the top bar as well then.

It's easier to see on the painted FW example - they also have a 360° on their site so you can see it from behind: www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Orc-Command-SetBut yeah, it's basically meant to be a wyvern wing with claw that's been strapped to a banner pole; you can also see the bone running through it. It's also mentioned in the product text: The Orc Command Set contains two multi-part resin models, each packed with jaw-dropping detail – from the severed wing of a great Wyvern, bearing the broken body of a Trollslayer, which the Standard Bearer carries, to the mighty, battered axe and the hateful bellow etched upon the Warboss’s features.
