Argh I had typed out the rest of it but lost it all. Here goes again.. His Steam Tank misfired so didn't manage to do anything of note. The Vampires all advanced and I managed to cast nothing (a common theme in this battle) In my brother's next go he rather predicatbly hammered my Blood Knights with his Hellblaster, reducing them to 2. He then fired his Hangunners at the Black Knights killing 4, probably a mistake not killing off the Blood Knights. The Steam Tank misfired yet again. In my turn the Blood Knights made a charge into the remaining Inner Circle Knights, The Zombie Dragon flew up next to the stone circle & everyone else continued their plodding advance. The Blood Knights won easily, overrunning & panicking the nearby Engineer & Hellblaster. Hooray the Black Knights live! The Steam Tank finally managed to do something and chugged into the Ghouls giving them a good kicking. With the Hellblaster unable to shoot, the Handgunners picked off a couple more Black Knights. In the Vampire turn, the Black Knights charged the Hellblaster and the Zombie Dragon charged the Halberdiers. The Spirit Host made a long charge into the other Knights. The Blood Knights wheeled around behind the Handgunners. The Zombie Dragon had to challenge the Champion due to Dread Knight so spent the turn butchering him. The steadfast Halberdiers did not run. The Black Knights killed the Hellblaster and reformed.

Go steamtank, get busy. I hope you win but still love for the steamtank. Just because I suck at using it

Empire turn, the War Altar & Swordsmen charged the Zombies. The Handgunners made a march move out of the charge arc of the Black Knights. The Steam Tank continued grinding through the Ghouls and the Vampire Lord started chewing through the Halberdiers. He had Nightshroud, Dread Knight & Swarm of Flies so was very difficult for the Halberdiers to hurt, even though he was striking at the same time. The Zombies evaporated pretty quickly as expected. The Spirit Host was taking wounds through combat res. Nothing much magical happened. In my turn I made one of many errors, charging the War Altar in the rear with the Blood Knights. I was hoping to kill Volkmar and win the game in one swoop but with more thought putting anything near Zombies is just silliness. The Black Knights joined the fun with the Halberdiers and the Wraith charged out of the Grave Guard into the Steam Tank flank. I decided to take my Necromancer out of the Skeletons since the Knights were looking like they would be free shortly. Another problem with the Blood Knight charge was the enforced challenge limiting my damage output. Volkmar survived easily, then the Zombies took more of a beating and everything crumbled. The Wraith damaged the Steam Tank which finally killed the last of the Ghouls.

Love the classic Steam Tank and Volkmar the Grim! He played Volkmar as Volkmar or a generic priest?

He played him as Volkmar. He has been working on sorting out his Empire army (it was originally purchased as a 4th/5th army). I assume he will give them a new lick of paint at some point My brother started his turn then unfortunately my kids woke up and it was pretty late, so we have measured up everything's positions and will play the last two or three turns next week. This is where he was up to, He was trying to Dwellars Bellow the Grave Guard. I felt I was winning but when we tallied up the Victory Points I was behind

I have done a reasonable amount of painting but not got any of it photographed. the Black Knights & Wight King are all done, I will try and get some photos next time I have a spare sec. In the meantime I have some WIP from the quicksand scenery I started on. I am trying to get all the 8th edition scenery table in some form and have quicksand and a marsh part built. It was basically made with off-cuts of blue foam mounted on plasticard and slathered in no nails glue. The holes still need to be filled in with realistic water and I need to add some detailing. Ideally I will find some finer sand to put over some parts of it but I was having difficulty getting hold of any all weekend! The Marsh is pretty much made the same except it will largely be water and coloured differently. I have also been carrying on working on my Chaos Dwarfs, I should have around 15 of the Axemen done shortly. At the same time as doing these I will be doing bits and pieces of my Vampire counts to break up the monotony. I have got some ghouls on the go at the moment with a small unit filler to take that regiment up to 40 Should also have some time to get some battles in shortly! Still haven't finished the previous one because I got pretty ill the day we were supposed to be playing it
