I guess the same is true of war machines? I guess in the steam-tanks favour is it's 1+ armour save. I dont know of many high-str poison attacks

Also true for undead, forest spirit and daemonic targets.
I've had the hilarious situation of a poisoned Green Knight 🤣

Of course, fluff has no bearing on the rules. But if it really irks you: just assume "poisoned = toxic," the latter including acid, holy water, or whatever is toxic for a particular being. Note also that the Green Knight, being ethereal, could only be affected by Poisoned Attacks if they are also magical.

For steam tanks specifically too, there is still a squishy, short lived, poison susceptible human inside too... Those hagbane arrows get everywhere...

Didnt poison used to be +1 to wound or strength? My Green Knight was a target of a poisonous Chaos Lord + magic weapon... And skinks with the AP buff from lore of Metal 🤣

And skinks with the AP buff from lore of Metal 🤣 Poisoned Attacks, like Flaming Attacks, doesn’t stack with the rules that a Magic Weapon may have. So, unless the magic weapon itself grants Poisoned attacks, the Green Knight wouldn’t have gotten poisoned. For future reference.

What rahotep75 says. BRB p. 73: "Unless otherwise stated, a model with this special rule has both Poisoned shooting and close combat attacks. Any spells cast by the model are unaffected, as are any attacks made with magic weapons they might be wielding, whether they be shooting or close combat attacks." The WoC AB does contain one magic weapon that bestows PA: the Filth Mace (for models with the Mark of Nurgle) - so, it might have been that. Other races have such weapons too, e.g. the Cobra Mace of Mazdamundi (Lizardmen). Another possibility to get magical PA (but without the need for a magical weapon) is the combination of Daemonic Attacks with Poisoned Attacks (common to all Daemons of Slaanesh).
