Hi, I believe I have seen on this site (and the linked app) regarding the rules on monstrous cavalry state that when combining character and monstorous beast profiles use the highest value of toughness and wounds. My rule books (island of blood and special edition) state wounds only (both p83). Was the rules updated to include tougness in a FAQ, subsequent rules release or being inferred from somewhere else?

The Monstrous Cavalry section states, "all the cavalry rules apply to monstrous cavalry with one exception..." Looking under the Cavalry section we see, "The mount's ... Toughness [is] never used." It seems clear you use the rider's Toughness and armor save but the mount's Wounds (assuming the mount has more wounds than the rider -- is that ever not the case?).

I have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure it's in the FAQ.

Just did a quick scan of the army books. Most Monstrous Cavalry mounts have higher Toughness than their riders -- which seems like it doesn't actually come into play. Also Ogre Kingdom Mournfang Cavalry is the only unit I saw where the rider and the mount both have multiple wounds -- again I guess the extra wounds don't get used.

Thanks for letting me know. Odd turning up for me as spam too, yet my browser shortcut works. Will leave it to others to find out why, should I delete links from thread in mean time?

Cough... the Erratum (not FAQ) is already 10 years old (BRB Official Update Version 1.6A of 2012) ... cough.

Hi All, Monstrous Cavalry do use both the Toughness AND wounds characteristics of the mount (unless the rider has higher). Here's a snippet from under 'Troop Types' of the full online rulebook for 'Monsterous Cavalry'
"All the cavalry rules apply to monstrous cavalry, with two exceptions – monstrous cavalry always use the highest Toughness and Wounds characteristics the model has, rather than automatically using the rider's – indeed, this will normally mean that the model uses the mount's Toughness and Wounds characteristics."
