As per the titular question, a cannonball hits a Dread Saurian en route to the Stegadon behind him, who totally deserves it. Seeing as the Saurian can be (so for all intents and purposes "IS") Ethereal, does it block the shot? It isn't prevented from HITTING the Ethereal beasty, just from WOUNDING it.
Seeing as a cannonball that hits a Monstrous so-and-so but doesn't kill it is stopped... Does the ghost dinosaur effectively body block all incoming cannonballs that cross his path?

Yea, by the rules ethereal monsters would stop cannon balls.
But I wouldn't play it that way. The rule of cool wins. It is cooler to picture the cannon ball whizzing straight through a ghostly apparition and demolishing the unit behind.

1plussave: You have covered all the relevant rules, but seem to shrink form the logical conclusion.

1plussave : You have covered all the relevant rules, but seem to shrink form the logical conclusion. Its a massive bitch in the rules to be fair. The idea behind ethereal is that things are passing through them or vice versa, the cannonballs being stopped is because of an unfortunately poorly worded interaction between 2 rules in a scenario that only existed when that damn monster came out.

Games Workshop (and especially Forgeworld) not adequately considering how two rules interact? I'm shocked. Shocked I say!

An errata for Ethereal to say: "... Cannot be hit or wounded by non-magical attacks, (including non-magical attacks that automatically hit or wound) ..." should be enough to be more thematic.
