As per the BRB "enemies with flaming attacks cause fear in war beasts, cavalry and chariots[...]" (p.69)
Now, does this apply also to units which don't have the special rule themselves but are equipped with weapons granting such rules? Does it make a difference if the weapon only grants shooting rather than melee attacks?
For instance, would Irondrakes cause fear in cavalry or chariots?
Furthermore, if a character with flaming attack (for instance a Thane with a runic weapon) joins a unit without flaming attack, do cavalry and co. have to test for fear?
Along the same line, if a warmachine runed with the rune of burning (?) is charged by mounted enemies do they still roll for fear?
Finally how come this is a rule that I have never once even remembered it existed when playing, but all of a sudden it came back to me when I was doing nothing related to the hobby and was actually sitting on the toilet at 12:45 am?

BRB Official Update Version 1.9, p.9:
Q: Do all forms of Flaming Attacks cause Fear in war beasts, cavalry and chariots? (p69) A: Yes, any model that has a Flaming Attack will cause Fear. This includes unit upgrades, models that only have ranged flaming attacks and even Wizards with spells that cause Flaming Attacks.
So:
- The Irondrakes would cause Fear. - Thane: only if the enemy unit is in base contact with the Thane. BRB p. 69: "At the start of each Close Combat round, a unit that is in base contact with one or more enemy models that cause Fear must take a Leadership test, before any blows are struck." - War machines: yes, because BRB p. 110 specifies: "All models chosen for the fight are considered to be in base contact with the war machine."

And it's right next to "Proteus' Silver Shower of Problem Solving". Fun fact, Proteus made one with gold, but it was single use only and created a different problem...
