On the heels of the utter insanity that was the Daboyz Mega Battle, I've decided that it's fun prepping for a big event. This gets me in a mindset of painting, scenery making, and thematic list building. Enter the book of Nagash.
I've just started chipping away at the story. Early on there's this battle between a Krell-led undead force against Bretonnians who are defending a relic in a haunted abbey. Arkhan the Black needs this relic to revive Nagash.
I've got a sizable undead force, Boda has a freshly painted Bretonnian army. The battle lines have been drawn and we plan to throw down in late January. This gives me enough time to muster enough bodies...enough to get as close as possible to the exact forces outlined in the Nagash book.
Boda and I are looking at something around 4000-5000 points. We also hope to carry out this battle in a public place (local shop).
I will post my army as I get it ready for battle, hopefully Boda will do the same. It's gonna be metal.

Yes. This is awesome. And I love that Warhammer: Nagash provides the exact army army lists used in the battle.

I love the Nagash book and we played through most of the scenarios last summer, but with smaller forces (3-4k I seem to recall). It was great fun! I'm looking forward to seeing you focus a bit more on a single scenario.

Love it. Hey I've got some guys in Rochester who are interested in 8th (a couple of my clubmates and I have played in the last few weeks) I could get some folks out to join you (parallel play rather then a combined mega battle) if you are doing this at a store.

Yes Gary. We should do a play day somewhere. We did one at Just Games last year but it gets very crowded there...only room for 3 tables. Also, there's no reason for there to be more than one group of guys playing 8th in Rochester. We needs ta merge. Let's get out and do a play day sooner than this other thing. Once I'm done finishing my gaming basement I should have room for 5 tables. I'm trying to create the premiere Warhammer venue in Rochester.

This should be an awesome battle. Return of Nagash was a great publication.
I have certainly incorporated some of its elements into my 'cannon' Warhammer world such as Nagash/Vlad being back.
Isn't this the 13th battle of the Abbey or something?
With the Bretonnian's successfully defending it 12 times in the past.
Looking forward to some pictures /story from this battle when it happens...

Just read through that. Awesome stuff. Loved the banners on the units also. I see The End Times as a series of hypotheticals one after the other....i did ponder to myself how things might have changed were the magical battle between the Lichemaster Khemler and Arkhan the Black to have had a different victor. I think that happens at the end of the Abbey battle.

Here's my proposed list for the battle with Boda. Feedback is welcome but keep in mind that I'm trying to adhere to the army list in Nagash. The instructions in the appendix of Nagash Book 2 allow for additional supporting characters. I've added my vamp lord, bsb, and 2 lv2 necros. I've also renamed a grave guard and blood knight unit to fit my army's fluff. I see the end times as the origin of my army as it stands and I like the idea of my characters being part of Arkhan's mission to raise Nagash.
