Rule of Pride states that "No more than one item may carry the same combination of rune".
In several occasion, it is written "Multiples of this Rune have no further Effect".
In case two runes have an added effect instead it's written "A third Rune has no further Effect."
It sound like i COULD use the third slot (Rule of Three) of an item for a rune to get "no further Effect" except make a different combination of rune ?
Thanks

Why wouldn’t you just use the points you would pay for a multiple of a useless rune to just get a different rune? Almost all of the runic item categories have a cheap ish rune that you can throw on to make an item different from other ones.
What combinations are you basically trying to cheat with?

The answer is yes though. You can have two characters, one with a rune of parry and a second with 2x rune of parry and have the same effect on both characters...
But you could spend the same points and have a rune of parry on one, and the rune of parry and rune might... You spend the same, still get the minus 1, but the second character gets abonus ability

Well, Rule of Parry is quite a pricey example.
Rune of Impact/Furnace is a more likely occurance?

Sorry for the late reply. I have 5 Dwarf Cannon, i want all of them to have the Rune of Forging. I need no other rune other than this one. I already have a Flame Cannon with only a Rune of Forging (50 rune point limit), so i did: C1: Rune of Forging + Burning (+5) C2: Rune of Forging + Stalwart (+15) C3: Rune of Forging + Stalwart + Burning (+20) C4: Rune of Forging + Seeking (+15) C5: Rune of Forging + Seeking + Burning (+20) Then i wondered if i could do this: Rune of Forging + Burning + Burning (+10) It's only a 10 point difference, yes, but last list i made i had 3294 point on 3300, with this 10 extra point i could've been able to place a different rune on some Lords or Heroes.

Well, you’re already cheating since Seeking can only go on Bolt Throwers, so you might as well go on with your plan.
I suppose technically it’s within the rules to do what you are proposing, but in my opinion it’s extremely sketch, since you’re wanting to do that for a specific gain (rune of forging) that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
Also, there are other runes available to you within your cannon rune limit, that would allow your combos to be different, but you’re choosing not to use them since they are more expensive/less useful. Which again, is gamey. The runic rules are there to prevent unfair advantages and force a player to make choices on their runes and other units in your Army.

I'm not sure if that is rules legal or not (dwarfs are not one of my primary armies). But I agree with rahotep75 it stinks of unsportsmanlike cheese.

Cheapest you could do it, is this... But then you have 3 cannons with flaming attacks 🤔
C1: Rune of Forging + Burning (+5) C2: Rune of Forging + Stalwart (+15) C3: Rune of Forging + Stalwart + Burning (+20) C4: Rune of Forging + 2 x Burning (+10) C5: Rune of Forging + 2 x Stalwart (+30)

When Dwarves do stuff like this, it's called 'beardy' for obvious reasons.

How are you able to run 5 cannons? I thought special choices were 3 of the same thing. Then 4 when over 3k.

jamesacon: In a grand army, you can include up to 6 duplicate Special choices and 4 duplicate Rare choices (BRB p. 135).

It's a very clever thought (kudos for out of box thinking!) but as a fellow Dwarf player, I don't think it's legal

It seems "rules as written" it's OK. It is figuratively saying, "if you take another one, it won't have any effect".
The real question should be, 'what points coat would you pay?', as some of the runes have set the points cost for the 1st and 2nd runes, if taking a 3rd, there no cost stated... So what would a third one be?
