I voted to leave it as is. One last proud bastion for the old guard.

I found this place/came here just for 8th ed talk because 8th is all I knew. Now I'll move onto TOW same as the rest of my gaming group, so I'll only come here to read/talk that.

I honestly can't decide.
With Warseer gone for good now (which always felt like the default WFB forum compared against the more 40k focused ones), this place & Lead adventure are about the only places I go to for proper hobby content. (Dakka is good for moaning and complaining but thats about it)
I'd have preferred to have this place remain as 8th edition, for me I don't think TOW will grow to be the default edition of the game. It seems pointless to use it as the standard set of rules when most of the armies are missing & there are more 'complete' versions of the game out there (ie, 6th, 7th and 8th).
But I also know a lot of people will flock to it just because it is the current edition.
If the forum becomes a general WFB forum, it will default to TOW anyway as that is were the most traffic will come from. If it remains EEFL but allows TOW posts anyway, 8th will become buried overtime anyway. Same thing is happening with the 'all editions' Epic facebook group, legions is become the default postings where you sadly see people arguing because people are automatically giving out advise based on what they believe is the default epic edition.
I'd like to see this place remain as 8th tbh, but I know traffic will fade once TOW is adopted as the standard.
I would say if it takes on 'catch all' editions going forward, you might want to think about dropping the warhammer from the name or adding something like 'warhammer fans' to avoid GW going after it. They probably don't care that there is a 8th ed WARHAMMER forum, but they might be a bit more inclined to C&D if its a TOW WARHAMMER forum. (I don't know though, I'm not a lawyer!)

Woah Warseer died? The "treadhead thread" there was legendary. I still use dakka. Probably something of a hidden blessing that socmed has eaten web forums lunch, imagine how insanely busy forums would be given the growth of the hobby + people being online would mean if there wasn't fire-and-forget socmed!

Frankly, if your whole reason of existence is "Eight Edition For Ever" in the first place, why deny that? Alas, it seems "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times."

Yeah Warseer finally bite the dust for the last time a few weeks ago. There were some really good WFB threads on there too. Wish it had been backed up on the archive or something but the place was a mess since the last hack, it never really recovered after that.

I would back a change to a more general WFB forum with sub-forums dedicated to different editions. Always loved the community here, but I'm a 6th ed guy.

Just keep the forum the same. We can review it annually.
We may find that 8th ed is still the preferred game.

Let's still hear opinions, but I'm thinking we leave the forum as is, for these reasons:
1. The reason to change the name in my view is in attempt to draw new players, specifically TOW players. But will that really happen? I'm not so sure, gamers love their social media these days.
2. I like the idea that this is a WFB 8 forum, but we've added TOW forum section. The forum is working just fine as is.

Feels, again, like GW is half heartedly doing this release. Feeling very “meh” about the release in general now.

The times they are a-changing. Warhammer Fantasy is no longer a discontinued game that "crystallised" with the 8th Edition. To keep EEFL and ignore TOW would be anachronistic and make the forum dwindle into irrelevance - unless of course the majority of forum users embrace TOW, in which case EEFL as a name stops making sense. I am for an inclusive name, that welcomes all version of Warhammer Fantasy Battles (and to me that means no Age of Sigmar!). WFFL would work quite well IMHO.
PS: Thinking a bit more about it, there is no urgency for changing name from EEFL. The forum can probably continue existing for months before TOW takes over and becomes the most popular form of WFB (if indeed it does).

For my group of players, TOW only brings some models to purchase. There is no interest to play it, and I would expect some other groups to feel the same way for the reasons below.
We know 8th, love 8th, all of our armies are relevant, and we just aren't interested in learning a new game.
So EEFL for me, 100%. But I'll be here no matter what the forum decides to do.
