Happy New Year! Apologies if I'm usurping sedge's prerogative, but let's make some plans for 2024! I'm hoping to beat my record and paint 100 miniatures this year, including: 26 figures to complete my army for Conquest 16 figures to complete the Close Quarter Battle set 23 figures to get my Horus Heresy squats up to 1000 pts 16 figures to complete my Roman warband for saga More figures for my Albion army, including a giant And assorted other fun stuff.

I will be keeping my goals modest/realistic
Finish my Slaanesh daemons contingent
Make some progress on Tzeentch, finishing it is probably optimistic
Any other bits I do along the way is a bonus!

I have big plans for 2024. 2023 was a great painting year for me, and I'm hoping for another one. 1) 2024 is the year of the Dragon, so my number one goal is to paint at least 1 dragon per month of 2024. 2) I'd also like to paint a minimum of 1,000 points of core for my Warriors of Chaos, as that'll get me to 10k painted core for them and let play the "Warhammer, 40k" (a forty thousand point game of fantasy) game I've always wanted to play. 3) As one of the dragons I plan to paint is Malekith on Seraphon, I'd like to bring my Dark Elves from 1,250 points to around 4,000 points. 4) Finally I'd once again like to paint at least 300 miniatures, I hit 407 last year, but with 12 dragons to paint, I doubt I'll get that high this year.

I am much less optimistic about getting through my backlog this year, with The Old World coming out - I'm likely to be getting somewhere around 100 - 200 models, which will take time assembling. I'd be happy just to paint the same amount as I get, so the backlog at least doesn't grow any bigger. As such, my goals are: - Paint more models than I get. This is a minimum expectation for every year, though ideally I'd be painting many more than I get.
- Paint at least 200 models. In the highly unlikely event I don't buy much, this ensures I at least get through lots of models, although I'm steadily running down my stock of easy to paint core infantry.
- Keep both Dark Elf and Dwarf armies 100% complete. Should be easy, unless TOW brings a load of new Dawi models.
- Make a start on my Empire and High Elf armies. The only two WFB armies I haven't painted anything for yet.
- Paint at least 20 Lord of the Rings / Hobbit models. I painted a few in 2023, but need to get more done - I've neglected my LoTR models for too long.
- Paint at least 30 Warhammer 40,000 models. I have 3 armies (Dark Eldar, Dark Angels, Adeptus Mechanicus) and haven't painted any in years. I don't play 40k any more, but still love and want to paint the models.
- Paint 1 Blood Bowl team. Another goal to ensure I pay enough attention to the various different games I play. I don't intend to paint all my teams to the standard of my edge-highlighted Skaven team. I might do some "rough and ready" Orcs instead.
- Paint at least 1 item of scenery. I actually have a lot of painted scenery already, but there's some still to go. I didn't touch any in 2023 - time to fix that.
- Paint at least 2 big centrepiece models. This ensures I don't just focus on numbers by getting little infantry models done. If I'm really ambitious I'll tackle my Mierce War Mammoth or Chaos Dwarf Iron Daemon.
- Admire my Dreadfleet models, and sorrowfully put them back in the box unpainted. Sorry, there's just no way I'm taking on this project yet, no matter how good the models look.
There's lots of goals on there, but it's mainly to ensure I'm painting a good mix of models. Keeping up with my TOW spending spree is the priority.

1) 2024 is the year of the Dragon, so my number one goal is to paint at least 1 dragon per month of 2024. How many dragons do you own?!?!

I'll go out on a limb and actually leave in writing what I am hoping to deliver this year. Apart from the first item, none in the list are actually required for gaming, they are all surplus:
- Finish my Ogre Kingdoms army (as of now, 4 cats, 2 gorgers, 2 ironblasters, 3 characters, 6 maneaters-eaters, 5 monstrous cavalry, 2 monsters) - Paint my 6th edition wyvern - Paint my second plastic high elf dragon - Paint the O&G odds and ends on my painting mat (3 trolls, a goblin boss and Ghazal Khan) - Complete my Phoenix clone factory project (paint 4 partially recast phenixes, 2 fire and 2 ice) - Generally paint much more than I buy
Erm, I've also got about 70 Lions of Chrace from different editions. Not sure about these. Maybe I could paint just the 8th edition ones? There's also 15 Sisters of Avelorn, several HE characters and about 10 additional Silver Helms, but these are not likely to make any progress.
The known unknown here is TOW. I actually would not want to buy any new miniatures, if I can resist temptation.

Let the record show that in 2024 I aim to:
1) paint up 100 Empire models. To chip away at Mt. Grey and please Sigmar. 2) expand Wood Elves from 1500 to 2500 pts (of 8th edition, which we may barely remember at the end of the year) 3) one monster per quarter as a pale imitation of kaltheras year of the mighty dragons 4) get carried away in a new direction by TOW. maybe.
