So, this'll be the start of my 13th Fantasy army. With the arrival of The Old World, I've decided to delve into the Bretonnians the way I've always wanted to. I've always held back simply because they weren't really supported during 8th and I wasn't willing to pay eBay prices after End Times. Thus, my journey begins.... I decided to start with the newest model for the Brets, the Lord on Royal Pegasus. First, I'd like to say, this model embodies all of my romantic visions of fantasy. The gallant hero, the magical fantasy creature, the epic pose, it's got all of it. Second, this model was an act of patience, breathing exercises and a vision test for this old man's eyes. There were so many TINY unnecessary, connections and pieces that didn't need to be part of the modeling process. A couple of the top of my head are 1) the groin for the rider (could've easily been part of the legs, but no, we have to glue three small elements together in a circle with only their edges touching), 2) the lady statue INSIDE the four columns on the crown of the knight (not only was it a super small piece, but I had to wedge it through the columns and set he in place before the super glue dried, and do it without the help of tweezers because they couldn't fit through the columns. I had to use a hobby knife blade to position it.), 3) the reins of the Pegasus were in too many pieces and I had to guess as to their positioning and hope they were close enough by the time I got them all on, 4) the saddle. Why in the world would they make this thing (that doesn't show up that much) into 7(!) different pieces?!? It literally could be 2! This model took me probably an hour longer than it should've. All that aside, I'm really looking forward to getting into this army. I'm putting them on the standard 8th edition bases, so that I can use them in 8th games and so that they'll match the rest of my models.

That is such a beautiful model. Many of the new bretonnian sculpts are - thinking about the female mounted spell caster too. I don't know how you feel about it, but I would be patient and leave painting this model for later. It takes me a while to learn what works painting a new army, so I find it better to start with easier and more expendable models, then work my way up to the mode prestigious ones.

Lol, you don't know me very well, huh? I'm a commission painter and typically get things done fairly quickly. It's assembly that I don't like. Takes me forever. You're probably right, but I have a very specific pattern I'm going to use. The Mott family has a coat of arms that can be dated back to the Norman Conquest. I have a lineage book that shows the family tree, history, etc. I'll be using that family crest. It's a crescent moon (in the shape of a U) on a silver and black checkerboard pattern. Sometimes it's just black background. So, basically, I'm a descendant of the original Dark Knight! 😁

I'd love to see this miniature when it is complete and the family crest on it.

I have a bunch of threads on here, one for most of my armies, but Empire is where my true love is. That army is around 15,000 points - though, it's been quite a while since I last counted. I've got too many models to work on! And now, Brets! 😁. I hope I didn't offend you. That wasn't my intention.

Finished a Bretonnian Trebuchet. It's not an official GW one, so I don't have a crew for it yet, but I'm sure I can come up with a few from somewhere. Saved me a ton of money though.

Great job on the trabuchet. Where is it from? I found it on eBay from an independent seller. It's a 3D print, but a good one. Cost around $20 US.
