So this is a chance for people to vote for which armies they like the most. Not own, but like. This could mean that a person likes to play with them or against them. What do you like and why? Is there something about a particular army that just speaks to you? This is a also a good chance for newcomers to get a good overview as to what's fun about certain armies they may be interested in or something that nobody has considered before. Please share your love!

So I'll start us off. Empire has been my first army and the one I know the best. But that's not why I like them. I like them because they have a little bit of everything. I don't feel as though I'm being locked in with any one play style. If I want to go magic heavy, I can do that. If I want to go fighty, I can do that. Fast? Sure. Heavily armored? I'm 'yo Huckleberry. Plus, all the fluff!
Dwarves have to be my second. I just love who they are. They are loyal to a fault. Tough, industrious, and innovative. In game, they have great weaponry, but even if you survive their fusillade, you are then faced with a hard CC fight!
Lizardmen would have to be my third favorite army. They bring the toughness to the fight, but also have some of the best magic in the game. If I know someone is going to be bringing a super-killy character, I can match him. They have a little bit of everything I want other than artillery which I've got my fill in my previous two armies. Plus, they are simply a fun army to paint up! Jungle based so you can really play up the bright colors and make each and every unit very unique if you so choose. Besides...DINOSAURS!

I have voted for Dwarfs first, they are the second army I started to collect many years ago. I love the fluff of their fallen empire trying to resurrect itself. I love the models, especially the characterful older range.
My second choice was Chaos Dwarfs, my current project. I always had a sweet spot for the Big Hats ever since I saw them. One of my friends collected them back in the day so I never bothered with them. Again I love the backstory and am super excited for them to be added to Total War in game 3 (hopefully). Again I love the models both old and new. Can't wait to have these at a point where I can put them down on the table.
My third vote was a close one. I love the story of many races and also have a soft spot for the aesthetics of many of options. In the end I voted Orcs & Goblins, they were the first army I collected and very much a fun army to play with and against. I like how destructive yet unpredictable they are, how a beautiful plan wonderfully executed can literally fall to pieces in about 2 seconds.
I was pondering voting Daemons, I like how they play very differently and again feel fun to play with and against. I also like the flexibility in their 4 god lists and am looking forward to getting the rest of the Greater Daemons and forces to match at some point

My first choice is dwarves. They have my favourite fluff (although I didn't always think so) and i love the images of the holds carved from the mountains. I think of their fallen empire in much the same way I do about the old world and what GW did to it.
Orcs and Goblins are my second. They were my first army and are just such entertainment to play. The choice of units was always staggering and that breadth was also another major factor.
Vampire Counts are my third, mainly because I always loved the Von Carstein and Nagash stories (both in the army and BL books). After OnGs they were my second army (back before the undead split into VC and TK). As such I'll always have a sweet spot for them. Vampires and legions of dead. What is not to like?
Honorable mention for Wood Elves. In all honesty they are probably joint third with VCs. Their fluff I could probably take or leaf (sry couldn't resist) but aesthetically I think they have the best looking army. What can I say green is my favourite colour, I love woods and I used to shoot (targets not deer. Using arrows on wildlife is somewhat frowned upon in the uk).

1st: Skaven: they're the only army that can shoot into their own combats because they care so little about the lives of their own troops. Also their tech is unreliable and tends to blow up and/or shoot their own troops due to "misfires" and "accidents". NOT because of sabotage or backstabbery.
2nd: Beastmen: Goatmen and Cowmen. Nuff said.
3rd: Lizardmen: Giant lizards riding Dinosaurs. They're just cool.
I'm a fan of the "beastly" armies.

High Elves aren't too bad. The Banner of the Crutch Dragon combined with Teclis is the only real problem with their book. Avoid those two things and there's nothing to hate in the army.

I am also talking about their overall elitist attitude and other lore and physical features. I personally don't hate High Elves, however will add that the Frost Phoenix at its points is an exceptional monster.

As far as lore goes, I loved HE fluff.....until End Times. Again. The way Tyrion killed Korhil...well, that just sucked. And how, with all that Malekith has depraved and done, still be considered the chosen king? Anyway, HE were my second army to collect and I've played with them many a time, so they are actually a close consideration to my top 3. Probably 4th. I guess my main aversion to using them more is their high price tag on most units. I like seeing huge battles. HE doesn't really give you that though. Sad.

All of them?
I have to come back to this vote later... Too many emotions running through my head right now.
How many votes do we get??? Only 3. I am putting more thought into this than any sane person should.

Wow, much love for the Dwarves here! Lol, nobody likes haughty High Elveso. I love the High Elves lol. They are my first army and by far the largest army I have for any table top game. I love their haughtiness (the British Empire is my favorite thing ever so that makes sense I suppose lol). My second vote was for the Dwarfs and my third for Empire. My second army is Dwarfs and I wish I had built up an empire force.

I ended up voting as follows:
Chaos Dwarf. My #1. It was the army that got me into the game. I love the models, I love the flavor. One of my great regrets in life was selling all my Chaos Dwarfs to another player so I could get deep into regular dwarfs. Earthshaker cannon? Rockets? If I ever paint all my current unpainted miniatures, this is the next army I expect to sink my teeth into. All that said: I have no (none, not one) Chaos Dwarf minis! Eeeeep I am still rambling, but I do not like how Bull Centaur in the current version must go on 50mm x 75mm bases. I have fond memories of them on a regular 25mm x 50mm base. Just writing this makes me want to go grab $300 cash and go on an eBay spree and buy an army.
Orcs & Goblins. Always a fun army to play against. A great army cause no 2 lists ever need to look identical. Fluff and flavor up the wazoo. Foot stomps? Yes please. Lunatic doom divers, love it. 100’s of minis in an army. So good. A clear #2, almost #1 but my emotional love of Chaos Dwarfs as my “First” is too strong to beat. Just look at Kevin’s army. A unit of 40 Wolf Riders? Also, bonus points – they had Orcs and Goblins in the original BATTLE MASTERS board game which was my gateway drug into Chaos Dwarf land. Everything is connected.
Skavens slip in at #3. I debated Dark Elves and Bretonnians (if I could have made a top 5). Skavens make the podium based on the strength of the plague monks. Possibly my favorite miniatures ever. Yeah… Those old metals ones that I think I sold to Rick and/or Danny. Lord Skrolk, right? So good. They would contend a bit more for #2, but in recent years they have gotten too “Steampunk” which makes me give them demerits. Really, I had a clear top 2 and had to waffle a bit on the #3 slot.
The above armies are: (1) Fun to play with, (2) Fun to play against, and (3) Wide open for army list construction. i.e. high elves didn’t make the list for me because I feel like they are a bit too boilerplate and a bit too “template” army list.
Ditto for The Empire. Great army, but I remember playing a tournament overt the course of the weekend, five games. Three of my five games were against The Empire and I couldt tell the difference between the three army lists. They all had Inner Circle Knights, Demigryphs, and at least 1 Steam Tank. Again, IMHO that = demerits.
I debated Beastmen, but… I haven’t actually played a game with them yet. Just wait til November, a guaranteed 5 games. Then, my vote might change.
