So my 5 year old son is super excited for tomorrow. Will buy his first set and hope my local store has start collecting Fyreslayers as its seams to be his favorite. I am trying to learn AoS rules as I think itโs perfect to start with. Not sure what I need though to get started. And god forgive me but I will base his with the included round bases. ๐

I think it's a good starter set. I'd also suggest thinking about Blood Bowl as that has been a pretty good gateway game for my kids. 11-14 models to paint. Rules are unforgiving but pretty straightforward.
i'm not sure where shadespire falls on the complexity level but it's also a low entry bar ($60 for two complete forces and core rules)

Looks cool. I hope my kids will get into it as well when they reach 5. Three more years....I can do that.

My son started pushing minis around at 2, painted a goblin army between 4-6, but lost interest in gaming as he found video games. He will occasionally battle me as we have a pretty sweet setup at home. Now 13 years old he is signed up to play at DaBoyz. Iโm hoping the event sparks some interest for him.

Yes, started earlier here too but he just wants to pain my armies as the unit I am painting is always cooler. And I really have a hard time with pink dryads with some blue, black random splashes so now he has chosen enough interest so today we bought the fireslayers and started gluing the big dragon guy.

Dragon guy looks good. Have fun with your kids, no matter the game!

Given the initial cost of the Magmadroth by itself the kit represents really good value. My mate has Fyreslayers (I only have a Magmadroth and the Silver Tower guy) and the minis are nice. Just because something is round based doesn't mean you can't use it in Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition. Your kid has good taste, choosing by far the best of the Get Started kits as his favourite.
