I ran into a fairly long chain of consecutive threads on 4chan's /tg/ that had been brainstorming a "what-if" alternative to The Old World. Titled "Bow of the Prophet," this alternate setting asked "what if The Empire was based off Ottoman Turkey, rather than Renaissance Germany?" IMO got really divergent, relocating and repurposing many races, but I imagine such a setting could work by making Sigmar's equivalent appear in Araby or the Badlands.
As a history wonk, I do enjoy the odd alternate history discussion ("what if Napoleon won Waterloo" or so), and such speculation is also fun to imagine for WFB, given how much of its history is an exaggerated version of ours.
Hypothetical Examples:
"United Provinces of Sigmar:" During the Time of the Three Emperors, Lady Magritta of Marienburg is elected, but the Arch-Lector fails to declare the election null and void (perhaps due to a hefty bribe). As a result, the center of Imperial authority moves from Nuln to Marienburg, with zealotry and military professionalism subsumed under pragmatic engineering and capitalism.
"Remasa Aeterna:" This one writes itself. The Remasan Empire came to power, not through the heroic deeds of one mortal, but through zealous devotion to Myrmida, Manaan, and Ulric, strong gravitas, and manipular legions. First content with becoming "first among allies," they would form an Empire spanning from the River Mortis to the mists of Albion. All Roads lead to Remas, and Remasan concrete paves the way for further conquest.
Has anyone here thought of other potential "alternate WHFBs?"

The big obvious one is Manfred for once not messing up and hence the world not ending. Although, that doesn't lend itself to alternate history as the scale of destruction even just up to this point has no parallel in real world history (so far, I guess there are still enough nuclear weapons in storage).

What if Daisy became the Chosen of Sigmar. How would the horses of Bretonnia react? Would there be a blood fued and what side will the unicorns pick...will they leave the head of a captain in the enemy's stable as a warning?

What if a sacred plague of the old ones told the Slann to ally with the Skaven and betray archaon the everchosen stoping the end times. At the last minute, then the Slann naturally turn on the Skaven and secure lustria once more.
How would events unfolded across the rest of the old world?
