I figured this belongs here. I play Flames of War in addition to Fantasy. I have a regular opponent up here and fantasy seems to have well and truly died out for the time being so I've decided to give my Flames of War a little loving. I thought about going all out and starting up some Fallschirmjager (german paratroopers) and some American Airborne, but I thought I would instead flesh out my already existing British armor/infantry and my German armor/Heer (regular army). This way I'm buying very few models and can instead focus on just adding to what I have. That gives me Axis and Allied armies, thus covering my bases for whomever I end up fighting. Here's the first pics of a WIP heavy mortar platoon I'm working on for my British. 4 teams consisting of 4 men each; I will also need to add a PIAT team (2 men), a spotter rifle team (2 men) and a command squad (3 men). I've got my work cut out for me but thankfully these guys paint up fairly quickly. Base uniform + shading first color block painted on

Don't worry there will be close ups once I have made some more progress on them. I won't be painting today as I have a game but I'll be sure to take a bunch of photos of all my terrain and models that currently are painted! Bases came yesterday. plasticsoldiercompany miniatures are my preferred model of choice; they're plastic and not resin/metal like so many others are, making them easier to work with, and they're also cheaper to boot which is nice. Downside is they don't come with bases (they can be used with a large variety of wargame rules that currently exist out there) so I'm forced to buy them. I already have a ton of medium bases but am lacking in the large/small base department but that's now remedied! Heavy mortars get a large base so I'm excited to try out my diorama skills. I'm hoping to make it so that each base tells a story.

Would you play Bolt Action as well? I'm thinking to buy 3 boxes of Warlord 40 Winter Soviet Soldiers to proxy as my Imperial Guard Vahallans and sometimes play Bolt Action since I have one eager opponent available

I've looked into Bolt Action and was seriously considering starting up Fallschirmjager, the problem (again) for me is a lack of opponents. Maybe I just don't know where to look but there's nothing on our wargaming groups Facebook feed other than 40k and Warmahordes. There's also Age of Shitmar. I did get some bad news last night though; my regular opponent for FoW is leaving to go back to Colorado in a couple months. A few pictures of my game. We played a small game on a 4x4 board; only used a SMALL amount of our terrain and a store felt mat because he got there first and started setting up. My infantry platoon; their transports (RAM Kangaroos) are on the left side RAM Kangaroo closeup Company Command Sherman and the Second in Command Sherman (this is an armored company) Sherman platoon # 1 Sherman Platoon # 2 Army Shot German Army - He brought a fortified company; pillboxes, minefields, barbed wire, all the goodies. It was intimidating. closer shot of the farther away elements of his list I ganged up on the left flank with everything I had. He went light on the anti-tank and he paid the price. This was taken after I assaulted his infantry with my Sherman platoon; I ground a few stands underneath my treads and then he backed off and I consolidated out of LoS of his artillery. His Nebelwerfer rocket batteries bailed out two of my RAM kangaroos; one of the infantry stands was subsequently destroyed my machine gun fire. 2/3 RAMs got stuck trying to cross the wall. Bottlenecked my forces and forced me to make more saves against artillery than I wanted to. Also slowed down my combo assault/final push for the objective. The game ended 3 turns after this picture when the infantry finally dismounted and combo charged alongside the tanks. He surrendered, not wanting to lose any more infantry. EDIT: I lost two fireflies and two stands of infantry; he lost the 15cm artillery platoon in the woods, his second-in-command along with them, and 4 stands of Fallschimrjager.
