I just saw this, but I'm curious to see how it went. A few thoughts: - Light Armour on skeletons is a bit of a waste, in my experience, ,unless you're fighting S3 or under units, which most of the time, the Dwarfs are not. They'll just got through it. - Tomb Guard: Uusually tend to work much better in a horde or at least 30+ units. At 20, and with little defense, especially if you go halberds with them, they'll lose to regular Longbeards, not to mention Ironbreakers, Hammerers and the like. Against Dwarfs, halbers with Razor banner can do wonders. Here are some old TK vs Dwarf battles: www.livewaaaaagh.com/battle-reports/2017/6/3/live-from-the-old-world-episode-13-tomb-kings-vs-dwarfswww.livewaaaaagh.com/battle-reports/2017/1/7/live-from-the-old-world-ep-7-dwarfs-vs-tomb-kings

My skeletons go without armour, hopefully the parry keeps them alive (dead... what ever) My TG don't have halberds so not an issue for me. Flamings over rated. So the Kings and prince are flammable but it's not something people tend to take, flaming against Regen yes but TK characters, not really. Greg

Well, we played the game and the dwarfs carried the day quite handily. It's been a while...in fact, too long. @alan, how about it?
What I do remember is how brutal gyrocopters can be when left unchecked. I got off some pretty sweet flank shots with the steam gun on skeleton archers in horde formation. Turns out that flame template can cover A LOT of 20mm bases.
I had some dice things going my way in terms of miners showing up at the right time to threaten (and thereby stall) the Tomb Guard (which at times was rocking some scary magic buffs on top of the hatred). Eventually I dispelled the right spells and the Hammerers went to town.
I was surprised how much punch a unit of chariots packs. somehow I was still in the 'light chariot' mindset of yesteryear.
anyway. fun little game. I hope Alan got a good feel for Tomb Kings.

Indeed! I am going to send that group of Tomb Guard to get commission painted to celebrate the victory. I would like to add though that I don't have enough Tomb Guard to add more to my force right now, they are expensive as all heck on Ebay. Dice rolling certainly did go poorly for me in that game, on turn 1 I tried to cast a spell with my Hierophant on two dice, and promptly miscast, and got sucked into the warp (We decided to call that a mulligan and just give him a wound instead, because the game would have been *very* short otherwise). I also managed to get very few of the spells I wanted despite having 2 Level 4 Wizards. Such are the fickle winds!
Was a fun game though, I quite enjoyed it

I usually add some Skeleton Warriors to the back ranks - they don't look too different from TG.

alan, it works for some and not for others but while you are waiting on getting more tomb guard, you can use filler. either skeleton models in the back or actual decorative terrain like ruins or what not. most players will be understanding. not only is fantasy no longer supported but tomb kings were especially hard hit with being completely ended and thus left to the wild realms of ebay. Naitsabes, rock on with the dwarves. loved using miners. miners were among my favorite dwarf units along with the flame cannon and longbeards.

Some of the Reaper Bones minis are passable proxies for Tomb Guard.
Maybe worthwhile if eBay isn't helping.
