Very interesting. I'm not crazy about the texture that these guys end up with from the 3D printing. I don't think I've really seen 3D printed minis previously. I've seen lots of 3D printed stuff but generally more square/rectangular as opposed to humanoids. I think with block like shapes you don't notice the texture as much but with a body you really do. Of course I'm sure as 3D printing technology advances the quality and ability to print minis will improve.

Yes, the quality on some of the minis/pics on the original post is low... Might only be good for statues or unit fillers at this point.
I was more impressed that he (1) undertook such a large project, and (2) put it out to the world for free. The community share angle is what is going to motivate me to buy a 3D printer myself, soon. (Also, anyone that likes 3D printing should check out MAKE Magazine)

My buddy and I have a 3D printer that is VERY close to being ready for sale. Finalizing the Kickstarter script right now.

As in a piece of resale OEM equipment? Way Cool! Depending on the price point, I'd rather buy yours.

Ours will be higher prices than the hobby kit ones you can buy online. It's made of 1" extruded aluminum and has a heated build chamber.
