So if pursuit or overrun after combat res and run into a new unit is it a fail or a charge and I am allowed a free 90 deg wheel? For instance if an other of my units is in the way for a straight charge but there is room with a wheel.

In the case of a pursue/overrun move, you move the unit in a straight line. If that straight move brings your unit into contact with a friendly unit or impassable terrain, it will stop 1" in front. If that straight move brings it into contact with an enemy unit, then it counts as a charge and you are allowed a wheel to maximise contact with the enemy. So, unless you have already can contact the enemy unit by moving directly forward, you are not allowed to wheel either.

To add: note that during a pursuit/overun move you are allowed within 1" of other units and impassable terrain.

I am just wondering what move I get things mixed up with that allows you a normal charge wheel.

Well, with pursuit/overrun or Random Movement, you are allowed a normal charge wheel - but only after you have established that you will contact the enemy by moving straight ahead. Perhaps you are thinking of redirecting a charge?

It does sound like he is thinking of charge redirection. In that case the new target would get a reaction and you would go from there.
