Just for clarity somewhere on the net, I thought I'd ask this question...
My unit of Knights of the Realm have Flaming Banner, so they now cause fear in other cavalry types... And therefore immune to it...
So if my brave knights are battling against Skullcrushers or Un-noble Demigryphs... We both cause fear, but are both immune to it, right?
At least that's how I've been ruling it for 8 years...

That is correct.
BRB p. 69: "Enemies with Flaming Attacks cause Fear in war beasts, cavalry and chariots."
Ibidem: "Models that cause Fear are themselves immune to Fear, and are not affected by any of this rule's effects (even if their unit fails its test, for example)."
BRB p. 83: "All the cavalry rules apply to monstrous cavalry" (with stated exceptions which are irrelevant for the question at hand).
