Allegiance - neutral Base size 40 x 40mm Size comparison with an old big handed elf. Hopefully its rules are visible. Unit size 1+ Can be taken as a rare choice by any army. Crystal Golems are commonly used as guardians by wizards. They form tough, dependable but slow bodyguards. It is rumored that Runesmith's have the ability to enchant Crystal Golems to protect dwarven holds but such claims have never been verified. Tactically crystal golems work best when the opponent has to act offensively towards them. With Movement 4 they cannot dictate matchups and can be easily avoided. They form decent backfield / warmachine guardians. They lack offensive capabilities but make up for it with a solid armor save and stubborn. As they can be taken as a single unit they grant an extra deployment drop and can guard flanks against lessor units such as goblin spider riders. Any decently hitting unit will mow through them but a crystal golem is only a lessor golem after all Any feedback welcome

I'd spend 50 points for that in a lot of lists 2+ armor is solid.

I'd spend 50 points for that in a lot of lists 2+ armor is solid. Indeed. A sturdy guardian. One or two won't break the point bank. I have had one of these slowly whittle away and eventually run down a 16 man Dwarven Thunderer unit. Cheers

Harumph. I would've bet on the Dwarfs. Even with instability? Charge + rank + banner...
Oh well, makes 50 pts seem even better. I gotta paint one now. Gonna go buy a big crystal at the craft store and put googily eyes on it. jk

Gonna go buy a big crystal at the craft store and put googily eyes on it. jk Oh the dwarfs should have won but the Golem lucked out. Every stomp the Golem would kill a dwarf and they never actually wounded it (2+ save vs Strength 3). They did win one round of of combat due to full command but the Golem didn't suffer any instability wounds. The 'Stubborn' of the golem means occasionally it can tank well above its weight. Despite being imo a decent 50 point pick the Crystal Golem faces a nightmare match up vs the (underpowered according to lots) 50 point Ushabti with Great Weapon. In playtesting the humble GW Ushabti bested the golem 3 times straight. I look forward to seeing your googly eye crystal

Oh, he hates Lore of Metal - Searing Doom your CrystalBrah, crack! He does indeed hate the Lore of Metal (and Minerals). That said if the enemy is targeting the Crystal Golem with a spell then I'd say the loyal crystal guardian is performing well
