Allegience - Evil
Base size - 50x50
The Night Bringer is a being of immense power and bears the appearance of a Grim Reaper come to take your soul. The Night Bringer has appeared on many battlefields to reap its deadly tally and it seems like it is those of purest heart who it seeks out. The Night Bringer has been sighted fighting alongside the forces of Chaos along with Undead forces led by the likes of the Von Carsteins and Nagash. While Night Bringer will fight alongside such armies its true purposes and motivations remain unknown. The Night Bringer will never stick with an army for a prolonged period instead floating off to pursue its own ends. The Night Bringer can be bargained with however any attempts to bring it to heel or bend it to another beings will simply result in the Night Bringer flying away or disappearing. Surely only a supremely desperate or arrogant general would attempt to bargain with such an unholy creature. There are reports of the Night Bringer having been slain and forced to flee battlefields only to reappear in later battles. It would appear that even the Chaos Gods and Nagash himself have no lasting hold over the Night Bringer as it fights when and where it chooses. The uniquely terrifying appearance of the Night Bringer is so fearfully ghastly that none who see it are able to forget it and there are many theories as to its true origin. Some speculate that it is the soul of an ancient warrior king condemned to fight for eternity. Others speculate that the Night Bringer is a living embodiment of all the malice and evil in the world brought to life by the actions of wicked men. Hidden in dark catacombs there are even debased and pitiful cults of abhumans who have witnessed the Night Bringer and believe it to be the fractured shard of an extraterrestrial God. Whatever the truth of the Night Bringer, death follows in its wake.
Designer notes: The Night Bringer is a veteran of over 30 battles and was one of the first 40k units to make the jump to Warhammer Fantasy in my gaming group. The Night Bringer hits incredibly hard and with a strength 7 Thunderstomp and high mobility has been the bane of heavily armored infantry units like Ironbreakers. The Night Bringer can dish it out but with a poor save, low leadership and low initiative can be dealt with quite easily so long as it is paid the appropriate respect. Rules/points wise the Night Bringer is unchanged from its original iteration when i first brought it in those years ago. It is effectively a modified Chimera.
Hopefully someone gets some use/enjoyment out of this.
