---------As Rich stated, I feel like the elegant answer is Impact Hits as described in the current EEFL playtest list. One, it is not an overload with several special rules. And two, they do become scary knowing they have such a potent charge – if they are 6 wide, it's like they are being supported by a chariot that rolled a 6 on impact hits. To answer your question, Bretonnian Knights are renowned as the finest knights in the world and they wield lances in a superior manner to everyone else. Similar to how Wood Elves are the finest archers, even amongst other Elves. The problem with the elf example is that elves just have a higher BS, their arrows themselves are no better. Brettonian knights with better WS represents what you are saying much better. I like the list, however. -------I'm don't remember if they have another advantage in 8th, but in the past Wood Elves had additional rules as well. Such as S4 arrows at short range, move and shoot without penalty, and -1 armour save.

The wood elves on 8th had armor piercing and a load of specialty arrows you had to purchase. It was odd, as all of the other elves, for the same cost, had just normal arrows from what I remember.

High elves archer spam with long bow range and BS4 was bad enough for me. The fact that they get a normal shot and a stand and shoot when charged and ASF is quit crippling. I'm hoping that these BS3 archers can at least weaken some units before I can charge them. Since the charge is so important and beastmen have so little shooting I'll probably wait till round three to actually commit.Get into position first and soften those beasties up

Impact hits is a really thematic rule and ends up being just powerful enough in a game. Here's why I don't like it: Why should Bret Knights get impact hits versus any other mounted human knights in the game? What actual thing / weapon / whatever to they do or have? My answer is - Nothing. Brets: your fancy polished spurs are weak. ---------As Rich stated, I feel like the elegant answer is Impact Hits as described in the current EEFL playtest list. It's a good rule, fun but not overpowered, and simple + elegant. Until I come up with a better solution, I am with you 100% My hesitation lies herein: I can buy that Bretonnian Knights are renowned as the finest knights in the world, skill wise. Yes. That said, I could just see them as Empire knights + 1 or 2 or 3 WS. In my heart of hearts, I would think that a huge spiky deranged Chaos Knight is more likely to cause impact hits than a glossy shiny Bretonnian Knight. The Bretonnian Knight is more likely to hit you squarely with his lance. The Chaos Knight is more likely to (somehow) make contact and cut you and crush you and smash you. Maybe give Bretonnian Knights KILLING BLOW on the charge? Thematically closer - but IMHO "meh" with regard to rules and game play wise.

The Lady is with usHis 700 points Gor unit with BSB ran from the table edge in turn one My opponent likes to send this monsters in alone so the Jabberslythe was killed by my Knights of the Realm in round two. Morgiana cannot get her Throne of Vines working but D6 strength 4 hits keep hurting him and forcing panic tests The Lady goes for a cup of tea elsewhere In round three he charges my Grail knights (I waited too long) and his lone mino-snout-thingamajig kills my entire Pegasus knight unit. My Wyrmlance paladin dies of fright and he keeps on casting the same three beast spells on his lvl 4 wizard. I try and dispell them but fail miserably which means that he has a wizard with STR8 en Toughness 5 in a unit of T5 and great weapons...this does not end well ConclusionI started great but made some serious tactical errors, notes for myself (and others) - CHARGE with your grail knights! - Don't pursue 2 harpies and leave your grail knight flank open - Do use challenges to keep his superior numbers from attacking - Don't attack his wizard with 3 buffs, try and break the unit by killing rank and file - Make cards for each character with their equipment on it. I forgot my Royal Pegasus knight had a 2+ versus fire. This is neither smart nor good for survival Once again it was a fun game (my first with Brets though) and my fourth loss in a row. Thank the Lady that we're not playing for money
