Hi all! I'm a returning player after a 17 year break without touching a brush. I initially thought I'd just repaint some of my old Chaos dudes but of course I very quickly started to browse all the possible opportunities that the used miniature market has to offer. Now I'm deep down the rabbit hole and I've spent more on miniatures in the last couple of months than I did in a year or two when I was a teenager. I decided to make a thread here of my painting progress because my wife is not that interested in my new cool minis and I've got to show them off to someone. These Chaos Warriors were Khorne-aligned, I just repainted their armor and got 6 more dudes to bring my original 12 to 18. In retrospect I regret changing the colour scheme, but at first I thought I might be playing 6th ed and I just had had enough of frenzy management. In 8th frenzy is not that big of an issue, so I'm probably going to run them Khorne after all. I'm thinking of going with an undivided look for the whole army and choose the marks later on, although I'm only interested in Khorne and Nurgle anyway. Archaon was the coolest model ever in 2004 and I still think he's really cool. I never could justify buying the model back then though, because I generally disliked fielding named characters. Now I could just buy this for the joy of painting it and I did have fun! This model is actually a recast that I got off ebay. I botched the horns, I already repainted them once and got similarly awful results. Oh well. The armor is really simple and could use some improvement. I'm satisfied with the helm, cloak and horse though. These sword-and-board warriors are my latest project. I've got plenty more waiting to be painted but I think I'll take a break from them and paint something else.

That great big gap hasn't effected your skills at all, they look great! Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Welcome! Cool looking warriors. Black armour looks cooler than red anyway, and gives you more flexibility to play them unmarked/with other marks when desired.

Thank you all for your kind comments! Here's a few projects I'm working on. I did make some capes with Green Stuff back in the day, but I basically started from zero now, compared to that I'm pretty satisfied with the results! Unfortunately it is too cold to spray paint outside, so I'll have to wait before I get to paint these models. This one is a model by Mierce that I got from their Half-price monsters discount (Thanks sedge for the tip!) It'll be my Daemon prince for smaller games and later for those nice double six rolls on Eye of the Gods. The chaos cross is not the neatest, but fortunately with Chaos it doesn't have to be. I replaced the tail as well, didn't really like the small stubby one the model had. And now on to my BRB. He's an old foot-slogging Archaon with a new head. I could have made the standard a little more V-shaped but I cannot be bothered to remake it completely.

Those look amazing! I'd say you have excellent GS skills! That is one are that completely eludes me. Would you mind writing up a "how to" for your method of Green Stuff? I sure would appreciate it.

Thank you all for your compliments! I don't think I'm qualified to make any GS tutorials mottdon, since this was my first attempt at a banner. I just used this video and this video, banners are after all just capes for sticks. I finished my Be'lakor today, there's still some learning to do to properly paint a sword. Glazing is a new technique to me so getting the consistency and colour just right is still a bit hard for me. Anyway, I'm satisfied with the results. I just love this model and I'll just run him as a regular Daemon Prince, you'll never see me buying the basic DP model by GW. I also finished my chariot. I got it for a good price second hand, it was already primed black and some of the metal and gold parts were already painted so I just continued from there. The manes and tails of the horses went awry as a used way too wet brush, and I'm too lazy to repaint them. Maybe some day I'll get back to them. Also the photos show the contrast on the horses skin (hide?) to be more accentueted than in real life. Be'lakor and the chariot had a total of 23 skulls between them, so next I think I'll paint something without skulls.
