Hi All, So I've been out of WH for some time now. Sold off all of my models some time ago. Gonna start a new, albeit much smaller, collection. A friend and I are going to start up some 8th ed games so needed an army. The army is mostly for display and maybe build off into a bigger force sometime down the road. Games are non competitive and mostly for fun. So here's the army I'm starting with. It's 3500pts but will be broken up into smaller armies from time to time.
Daemon Prince, Nurgle, Fully Kitted Out: 570
Exalted Champ, BSB, Khorne, Warshrine: 330
Marauders x40, Flails, Khorne: 430
Marauder Horse x12, Flails, Khorne: 258
Chariot, Nurgle (x2): 250
Warhounds x5: 35
Warhounds x6: 42
Ogres x12, GW, Nurgle: 570
Gorebeast Chariot, Nurgle: 140
Knights x12, EW, Khorne: 585
Chimera: 290
Thoughts and comments?

Hi. Cool and balanced list. But I would replace the nurgle demon prince. That is one of the strongest choices in warhammer and has imo no place in a friendly list. Maybe replace him for a khorne prince or a blood thirster as your list seems nurgle and khorne focused.

Nice army collection! Welcome back to WFB!
Regarding daemon prince I find it depends on opponent and what army he will bring and level of competition.
High elves, dark elves, dual cannon list of any kind like empire dwarfs and skaven. I have no problem bringing one even in friendly games.
I have a friend with almost no wins against WoC and it is still his choice of opposing army(a have many) for the sake of trying to beat it.
Best usually is to tell you opponent so they can be prepared. Also mix it up.
Also it opens up for some more fluffier choices that otherwise might see limited play. Like running a lot of marauders and ogres.
I think everything works with good communication, it is usually when a mismatch of intent occurs it’s less fun.

Changed army to just a 2500pt nurgle. Went this way:
Daemon Prince - 570
Warriors x30, GW, NG - 600
Marauders x40, Flail, NG - 430
Marauder Horsemen x12, Flail, LA, TS, NG - 270
Chariot x2, NG - 250
Warhounds x5(x3) - 90
Chimera - 290
Mostly core units to build off of later with the Daemon Prince and Chimera for fun and display

Been awhile since I was on here but thought I’d drop an update down. So, I moved to china a decade ago and sold my collection off. Was home this past summer and started a new collection as I said before. List got refined to this:
Demon Prince - 565 Nurgle, chaos armour, fly Sword of might, charmed shield Flaming breath, scaled skin, familiar, soul feeder, nurgles rot
Chaos warriors x30 - 635 Nurgle, Full command, war banner, great weapons
Marauders x40 - 430 Nurgle, full command, flails
Marauder horsemen x12 - 270 Nurgle, full command, flails, light armour, javelins
Warhounds x5 - 30
Warhounds x5 - 30
Chariot - 125 Nurgle
Chariot - 125 Nurgle
Chimera - 290 All upgrades
2500pts
Play mainly against an ogre player. We got one game in since I’m painting as I assemble so it’s taking awhile to get models on the table. I weighted my right flank with the warriors and my two flyers with the chariots in the centre and the marauders, horsemen and hounds on left. Plan was to let my centre collapse and then pincer him. Plan didn’t go as planned but was still a resounding victory. He charged his mournfangs into the warriors and got decimated (he was cocky from crushing my khorne warriors frequently in the past). Luckily his ironblaster blew itself up second turn, freeing my flyers to chase down his Hunter on stone horn which had crushed my chariots the turn before. My marauders, surprisingly, held the left flank mostly because he held his gutstar back in reserve. Not sure why he did that. Eventually I lost all units on the left flank but by then my right flank was closing in and cleaned up the rest of his units.
Heroes of the game: warriors. They crushed everything sent against them and we’re the only unit to pass all fear tests.

Welcome back Lost! Sounds like a good game. I like the list too. sure there's a couple of tweeks I'd make but thats more a personal preference. people underestimate the humble [humble, really?!] Chaos Warrior, yet its one of the strongest line infantry in the game.

Yeah, was my first game in over five years. Was a fun little battle. I think both of us were shocked by the Warriors performance. I used to run 24 khorne warriors with extra hand weapons six wide. When I played ogres his mournfangs used to mash them into jam for their toast. The Nurgle great weapons in horde formation really stepped up.
The list is only meant to be competitive with my gaming group - so not really at all. Built mostly core so I can put together other armies in the future easily and with the larger groups for display really.

I usually run a small unit of 14 Nurgle Chosen with great weapons as Festus' bodyguard. That unit always delivers

First time I’ve gone with a unit of warriors that big. Like the way they look on the table, lol. Usually run 18 or at most 24. One of my mates is trying to build a skraag army to take me on. He’s running:
Skraag
BSB
9 iron guts 8 ogres
40 gnoblars
6 leadbelchers
4 mournfangs
2 gorgers (1 unit)
3 sabertusks (3 units of 1)
Ironblaster
Thoughts? Not sure what he’s got for BSB items or magic banners, if any. Probably discipline on the iron guts

I have to admit, I used to run 35 Khorne warriors with halberds in horde and they rarely worked out for me. The -1 to hot on combat really makes Nurgle warriors more survivable

Never ran halberds. Never had the kit for them and I hate using proxy models lol. I’d like to give them a go sometime though. Most warriors I used in past editions had shields. Used to run two groups of Slaanesh with shields way back when

I really like the Khorne Halberds and in game I5, S5 and a bucket load of attacks is pretty good to chop most things apart however they are a massive point sink and still die

One day I’ll get to halberds. 35 is a lot to put into a unit. I thought 30 was almost too much.
If anyone has a good working knowledge of ogres my buddy is in desperate need of an army list to fight me with. He’s having a rough go against this army of mine and I won’t be building another one until I finish painting it which will be done time. If anyone has a list, or suggestions for a list, to counter my army specifically post it up.

would be best to start a new thread if anything, to grab the attention of the gluttonous of us who play Ogres
