Hi, just got back to the hobby (took me some time to get over the end times). Trying my luck with the Empire in my next 3000 points game. What do you think about this list?
I'm not sure if two HVGs and Cannons are ok for a friendly game.
+ Lords + Battle Wizard Lord [290pts]: Lore of Light, Wizard Level 4, Power Stone, Ruby Ring of Ruin, Talisman of Preservation
Grand Master [259pts]: Shield, Runefang, The Other Trickster's Shard
+ Heroes + Captain of the Empire [143pts]: Battle Standard Bearer, Full Plate Armour, Shield, Dragonhelm, Ogre Blade Master Engineer [66pts]: Light Armour Master Engineer [76pts]: Light Armour, Repeater Handgun Warrior Priest [119pts]: Heavy Armour, Shield, Speculum, Biting Blade
+ Core + Archers [70pts]: 10x Archers Halberdiers [270pts]: 40x Halberdiers, CMS Handgunners [90pts]: 10x Handgunners Knightly Orders Inner Circle [155pts]: 5x Knightly Order CMS Swordsmen [205pts]: CMS, 25x Swordsmen
+ Special + Great Cannon [120pts] Great Cannon [120pts] Greatswords [239pts]: 19x Greatswords, CMS Pistoliers [100pts]: Musician, 5x Pistoliers Reiksguard Knights [308pts]: 9x Reiksguard Knights CMS War Banner
+ Rare + Celestial Hurricanum [130pts] Helblaster Volley Gun [120pts] Helblaster Volley Gun [120pts]
The plan is to have a cannon HVG and a Unit of Knights on each side. The rest of the Army will try to face the opponent in the middle. The WP will go in the Halberds, the AST will join the Greatswords. The Grandmaster rides along the Reiksguard and the Wizard is hidden in the Archer unit.

Off the top of my head heres my train of thought, buy a ticket if you will:
No Dispel Scroll will hurt your chances in the long run, a level 1 Wizard with the Scroll and Lore of Light will make your army and your Level 4s Banishment better, Ruby Ring is mostly wasted with a lore that has better in Burning Gaze, the Repeater Handgun on the Engineer is legitimately wasted, Enchanted Shield + Dragonbane Gem is cheaper than Shield + Dragonhelm on the Captain, Archers being detached to the Halberds or Swordsmen saves a drop and gives them leadership bonuses when nearby, same for the Swordsmen and the Handgunners, a slightly smaller Swordsmen unit could instead detach to the Halberds and get their Warrior Priest buffs.
Edit: War Banner is not worth if you can find the points for the Steel Standard, your general is a little vulnerable but thats unavoidable if you have your heart set on the Runefang.

Yes, one ticket please. Thank you for those suggestions.
Good point about the Lvl 1 Wizard. I added him and dropped the Banner on the Knights, the Repeater Handgun, as well as the CMS on the Swordsmen to get the points back. Had to add an Inner Circle Knight, to get the required % on core units.
The Archers and Swordsmen are now detachments of the Halbediers. I was unsure about the detachments, as it could be tricky to move those 3 units around obstacles.
What do you think about the two Hellblaster Cannons? Acceptable or too much?

Just let the Swordsmen and the Archers run free, they don't HAVE to follow the Halberds after deployment. Usually I just have the Archers detached and have them hide behind the Halberds anyway.
2 Helblasters is fine, you are due at least one power combo. The Cannons will really be dependent on your opponents, they are ideal for taking on enemy war machines and will ruin a monster mash. At the end of the day You'll have to gauge whether they are a legitimate response to the meta or if they are sucking the fun out of the game. If you don't have them and need them you'll know about it fast.

What do you think about the two Hellblaster Cannons? Acceptable or too much? I think it entirely depends on how aggressive you and your opponent like to play.
