Hey all,
I have been reading the chaos daemons tactics, especially the tzeentch stuff. And I noticed that not much is said about the exalted flamer. So I had a look at the rules and have a question.
If the exalted flamer joins a unit of flamers, does it gain skirmish? And if so, does that mean it can March and shoot with his weapon?

I am not quite sure what you are referring to. The Exalted Flamer is just the crew of a Burning Chariot of Tzeentch, and a chariot cannot join other units - unless, of course specifically stated otherwise, which is not the case here. The character "Herald of Tzeentch" will replace the Exalted Flamer, but still cannot join a unit of Flamers on 2 counts: because it is still a chariot, and because BRB p. 77 states: "A character on a mount cannot join a unit of Skirmishers."

Exalted Flamers on foot got rules for 40k and fantasy in one of the Warhammer Weekly's of the time. Added picture below for reference but they essentially are 90 PT heroes who chuck out flame cannon shots or grapeshot shots with the warflame special rule As to the OPs question yes they can join a unit which skirmishes and they all skirmish together 👍

Well, it may require the agreement of your opponent. And when I read Battlescroll....

The rules for it are also in the FAQ.
Thanks for the replies! That's good to know, have some plans to make now.

Looks like the FAQ for Daemons states it can move and fire but not march.

The last DoC Update Version (of 2015!) has an amendment adding the Exalted Flamer character, with the rules as in the WD sonofkurnos posted. As a character, he can join a unit of Skirmishers, and will thus gain the Skirmisher special rule himself. Since his weapon is not Move or Fire, he then "can even shoot if they marched or reformed earlier in the turn"(BRB p. 77).

If I understand correctly, there is no restriction to stand and shoot reaction when charged. How do we think this would work out?? for both modes of shooting?

As you can see in the picture of the rules above, Pink & Blue Fire have the Slow to Fire special rule - so, no S&S.

Come to think of it, even if it would not have been specified as such, they still would have the Slow to Fire special rule, since BRB p. 109 (updated) states: "Unless specified otherwise, all weapons in this section (and all other weapons mounted on war machines) have the Move or Fire and Slow to Fire special rules." Fire throwers and grapeshot are "weapons in this section," and Pink & Blue Fire do have a specific exemption for Move or Fire, but not for Slow to Fire.
