Hey y'all,
Hopefully a quick question...
When required to take a strength test, for example - how Would Josef Bugman take the test?
His actual profile says S5. But his Weapon's +1S +1A bonuses has needlessly been included in it.
Ludicrously, Ungrim Ironfist's Armour gives him +1T (included in his profile), but his weapon which gives him +2S isn't included.
Are we to suppose that Josef's weapon has *physically* altered him?

Well, the FAQ says that bonuses from items, except magic weapons, always apply, except when specifically noted.
It goes on to further say that magical weapon bonuses only apply in combat, unless specifically noted.
Ungrims Axe does specifically say “when striking in close combat…”, so that’s why the the strength bonus isn’t listed on his profile, whereas his Toughness bonus comes from the Slayer Crown. I would personally say that Josef having the bonus applied to his profile from his weapon is an example of “specifically noted”.

What rahotep75 says, and Bugman is not the only example (e.g. the same applies to Queek the for Attack characteristic). BRB Official Update Version 1.9, p. 6: Q: Does a magic item or spell that gives a bonus to a characteristic, do so bonus for all rules purposes (e.g. the effect of spells, characteristic tests, etc)? (p4) A: Yes, except for magic weapons or where the description of the item or spell specifically says otherwise. Q: Does a weapon that gives a bonus to a characteristic only give that bonus when being used to attack a model?(p4) A: Most weapons, including magic weapons, state when the bonus is given. For example, a model with the Fencer’s Blades will always have Weapon Skill 10 whilst a model with a great weapon will only have +2 Strength when striking an enemy in close combat. When a weapon does not say when the characteristic bonus applies, then it only applies when striking, or being struck, in close combat.

...ergo Josef Bugman would take the test using his strength value of 5.
