Like other have said, discipline and being constant is indeed the key. It also helps consuming things that will stoke your interest. Podcasts, videos, articles, blogs, forums. They're all things that really make me want to paint. Just make sure you're not doing that instead of painting. My jam is actually battle reports. I always end up wanting to paint miniatures so that I can then field a n army to outclass the one portrayed. But what really boosted my production and motivation was coming up with something that made the hobby truly mine. I have lore, background, names for units and characters. this way I'm not just painting anonymous dwarf quarrelers number 78, I'm actually finishing up on "Il grugno" a unit of skilled crossbow armed dwarfs tasked with defending the southern entrance of the Tilean hold of Karak-Mingol. There's also things you can do while actually painting to psychologically trick you into painting more and feel less overwhelmed. For instance, don't have ALL your unpainted models in front of you as this will absolutely destroy any feeling of progress. Or (and this is a really good one) don't play with unpainted models, this way you're forced to actually paint something if you want to use it. do Batch painting of 5,7,10 models that are going to be painted the same; trim away all needless junk that GW miniatures often have. All my dwarfs have had the medals and lockets removed from their weapons (BAM, 3-5 minutes shaven of each miniature, multiply it by dozens of them and you're saving literal hours); put your painted miniatures on display somewhere you can see them: nothing pushes the desire to progress more than seeing your army actually progress. Sei Italiano?

On the other hand...
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
Sloth, now at last I must sing A short hymn of praise to you. – Oh – – how – – ti – – ring I find it, – – To – – extol you – – as you deserve! Still, I shall do my best, After labour, rest is sweet.
Highest boon! Whoever has you, His untroubled life – – Ah! – – I – – yawn – – I – – grow weary – – Well – – please – – forgive me – – then, If I cannot sing your praises; You are, you see, preventing me.

Also, I wanted to add another thing about the getting motivated. Back in the day, when I really wanted to feel inspired by this hobby I would set up the table with my gaming mat, tons of terrain and my army deployed like you'd see in a WD article. I'd look at it for hours just basking in the glory of what was, effectively, a huge diorama and would think of waht else I could add next to the scene to make it look even better. And then I'd work on that. if you have multiple armies you could set them up as if they were fighting. Basically I would use them as I would toy soldiers (which they indeed are). there's nothing like seeing them deployed to stimulate one's motivation

I have an enormous, poorly painted orc and goblin army (over 70k) that I am working improving unit by unit.
When I built up the vast collection I didn't want to play with unpainted models so most had the base colours blocked in before they moved to the shelves
I used to have a Kanban board on Trello with units progressing from base-coats to highlights to bases to done. But I found seeing them all listed was demotivating me.
My solutions: A) I made a google sheets random painting project generator. I listed all the unit types with the orc and Goblins, the added a single entry for each of my side armies, added other hobby things like paints to dropper bottles, fluff, free hand banners, Total War Warhammer, reading, terrain. B)joined the painting challenges here. It is a good motivational tool. C) I keep a "Done List". Not a to-do list, but a list of accomplishments to give me that morale boost when I'm lost in the weeds.
Edit: I also have my WFH office in my hobby room, where the orcs are all in shelves Nothing like a shelf full of eye-less spider riders encroaching on your thoughts all day... Master... Paint me ... Give me eyes...

I took the time to out them onto a 6x12 (6x9 according to math) table for a couple of photos that I might clip together just before I left Australia.

That’s a proper horde Wundapantz!
There are units in there that are bigger than some armies.
Feels like the view from a Dwarf mountain outpost of an approaching waaagh.
How many models are there? Four or Five thousand?

Four or Five thousand? So I've just gone through the army list i created on that day. There's 3875 individual models in that list There's 2600 core miniatures, 160 of which are spider riders Other insane notables 268 black orcs 57 orc boar boys 38 common trolls 13 giants ....

Imagine a game against all that....
It would take weeks but man the memories...
(or maybe all it takes is a lucky cannon shot and 50k points worth of models run off the edge)

My painted chaos is creeping towards 800 and I thought that was a lot. And I’m aiming for about 1800 (which I’m unlikely to ever actually hit at current productivity levels) which I thought was insane. Might be able to match you on points though, and giants eventually.

Imagine a game against all that.... It would take weeks but man the memories... (or maybe all it takes is a lucky cannon shot and 50k points worth of models run off the edge) The issue with large scale orc armies is they need their BSB reroll, so being bunched up is necessary, and playing deep means animosity will wreak havoc... But I absolutely do want to play large scale armies, and dwarf V Orcs are probably the most likely, given its my wife's army and she has about 8k... I think 3 X 3k battles maybe more satisfying than a 10k, but it lacks the theatre. There was a group in Australia who did massive battles (Hoodling's hollow was the blog iirc) Edit: hoodlinghole.blogspot.com/p/battle-reports.html?m=1

i did play very large games a few times (nothing THAT big), and to prevent that exact issue, we just allowed multiple BSBs. The only limitation was it had to make sense from a lore perspective. So for instance in you case you could have an Orc BSB, a Night goblin BSB, a regular goblin BSB, Savage Orc BSB etc., with each BSB working on a specific section of the army (except the main BSB working as normal).
