Good day to all! I have caught the Chorf bug recently, and would like to have a list to start working towards as I begin painting those beautiful Fabelzel Chorf sculpts.
The goal is to have a 2000 point list that includes all of my favorite dudes, and can give my friends a challenge as they learn the game, but is not as dominant as my High Elves.
Disciples of Hashut, what say you?
Lord:
Sorcerer-Prophet, Level 4, Lore of Hashut, mounted on a Bale Taurus, with the Charmed Shield, Talisman of Preservation, Blackshard Armor, and Daemonforged Weapon (495 pts)
I want to have a big bad Chorf flying around, blasting off short ranged Hashut spells with impunity, and challenging small units such as archers. He would have a 3+/4++, and the Charmed Shield for a single hit from a cannonball etc. I am also considering the Enchanted Shield, as my group tends to favor non-cannon warmachines.
Heroes:
Infernal Castellan, BSB, Mask of the Furnace, Great Weapon (200 pts)
3+/4++ on this guy as well, striking at S6, causes Fear, and gives the unit of Chorfs Stubborn. I was also looking at the Black Hammer of Hashut build, but the 4++ seems really, really good.
Two identical Hobgoblin Khans, Light Armor, Shield, Spear, Giant Wolf (56 points each)
These are for chaff. Much like my Orcs and Goblins, I have found the lone characters on wolves to be stronger, cheaper, and more reliable than the fast cav option (animosity.)
Core:
23x Chorfs (Infernal Guard,) Full Command, Great Weapons, and the Banner of Swiftness (Deployed 8x3 with the BSB) (392 pts)
Going aggressive with this unit, 8 wide, with M4, S6, and Stubborn seems like the play. I was also considering Blunderbusses or Fireglaives on this unit, because of the wide frontage to maximize shooting whilst being stubborn, but I like the idea of keeping them "cheap" and getting the most bang for my buck in CC. I have other units for shooting (see below,) and don't want to just sit there shooting at my opponent.
2 units of 20x Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Musicians, Bows (Deployed 10x2) (104 pts each)
These are for clearing chaff with their 24" bows (Night Goblins are SEETHING) and potentially reforming 5x4 to keep some steadfast and protect the flanks of my big unit. Love me some Hobgobbos, as well as symmetry in a list (two units of identical goblins flanking my Chorfs is just *chefs kiss*)
Special:
6x Bull Centaur Renders, Full Command, AHW/Shields(?) (Deployed 3x2) (295 Points)
Used as a fast element of the army, and I love the models, but unsure of their role in combination with my other units. AHW seems like a good choice for a near 50% increase in attacks (2->3, champion 3->4, not factoring stomps,) but I just can't help but feel like taking shields for that juicy 2+/6++ would make them more dependable, or go full balls to the wall with Great Weapons for S6 (and freeing up points elsewhere.) How have people run these dudes in the past? Are they worth it?
2 Magma Cannons, no upgrades (145 pts)
I want some sort of War Machine if I'm playing Chaos Dwarves. It's only natural. The Magma Cannons are my favorite lore and model-wise, and with their 24" range and non-cannon rules, I feel that they would be fair for my opponent while also threatening larger units, which I feel Chorfs may struggle against.
This comes out to 2000 points on the dot, with perfect ranks/files including characters, and the symmetry that I aspire for. I chose no rare because the warmachines seem too powerful, and I want to keep away from K'daai as I cannot find any suitable models, and want to keep this army in that classic 90's Chorf theme (I'm going to do Goblin Green bases and bright colors, as opposed to my more "modern" armies.)
Any feedback is much appreciated!
