Army compositions:
Skaven:
Warlord with weeping blade, charm shield
Engineer lvl 2: storm demon
Rolled: fireball and took warp lightning and 3 warp tokens generated.
Clanratsx20 fc shields
Clanratsx20 fc.shields
Warp fire thrower
Poisoned wind mortar
Rat ogres with master Moulderx3
2x5 gutter runners with throwing weps
Wood elf brought:
Spellsinger lvl 2 elemental on steed
Branchwraith lvl 2 elemental with spites
10gladeguard with swift shiver
1x9 dryads
1x8dryads
5x wardancers, ahw
5x wild riders with command
1x great eagle.
Deployment:
Welves won the roll of to go first
Turn 1 wood elves:
Not a whole lot happened, dryads marched and the wild riders with attached character reformed to face the gutter runners.
The mage was unable to see anything and had an uneventful magic phase.
Shooting led to 3 clan-rats dying as the gladeguard multishotted across the battlefield.
Turn 1 Skaven:
Onto business, everything except the poisoned wind mortar moved up.
Shooting was very eventful, left flank gutter runners marched and multishotted the eagle killing it outright. Right flank gutter runners did a similiar trick killing 3 wild riders poisoned wind mortar shot and missed its mark.
lastly the warlock engineer decided to start blasting thanks to being ‘17’ away from the dryads with the branchwraith fireball cast as I ate a warp token, rolled 2 attacks and then two 1’s to wound.
Next I ate more tokens and shot warp lightning and followed up with storm demon. All were unable to be dispelled and all in all killed 3-4 dryads.
What an opening volley here’s round 1 ending.
Turn 2 wood elves:
No charges as riders were now out of arc due to casualties
Glade guard make use of open order to about face and aim for vengeance on the gutter runners savaging the wild riders,They roll really badly killing 1.
Mage in wild riders and remaining champion March the heck away across welf deployment towards the other side of the table.
Dryads, wardancers and dryads with branchwraith all attempt to charge left flank gutter runners, who fire and flee.(though in hindsight I realise we forgot to take fear tests to declare that response from one of the units of dryads who outnumbered) unsurprisingly my gutter runners run out of charge range before shooting and killing a wardancer.
Turn 2 skaven:
No charges
Warplock engineer reforms to face over the graveyard and maybe sneak an extra magic missile in.
Everything else moves slowly towards glade guard.
Left flank gutter runners position themselves ‘11’ away from wardancers and shoot, Killing one(though I think my opponent forgot they could have done an evasive move here).
I open up with my first warpfire thrower aiming 6 forward, it scatters 10 and lands directly over the flank of the gladeguard in a textbook devastating flame hit. As a result 4 burn and the rest fail their panic, running off the board.
Poisoned wind mortar shoots, scatters and kills a dryad.
warplock engineer shoots the branchwraith a unit and kills two more.
Turn 3:
Wood elves:
I believe the welves lost sight of their tactical prowess here as my buddy was quite demoralised.
They attempted to multi charge with wardancers and the weakened unit of dryads and I fire and fled killing another with left flank gutter runners.
Untouched dryad unit marched up as close as possible to gutter runners.
Mounted wizand remaining wild rider continued to March.
Skaven:
No charges.
Poisoned wind scatters and lands directly onto of the untouched dryads killing 1-2.
Flamethrower and magic roast the branchwraith unit reducing them to just the character, but In return I choke on a warptoken going down to 1 wound.
Gutter runners kill more(gosh these guys are mvps)
Turn4:
At this stage the elves attempted one last charge with the depleted branchwraith and wardancer on the gutter runners who once again fire and flee. They then quit the field.
Absolutely brutal and it was my first time using the rats in anything but mordheim.
Ultimately I think my opponent deploying the eagle and wardancers in flank positions led to me being able to deploy gutter runners out of arcs and just murderise. I suspect they will never let me do that again hahah.
I do think my opponent still had a good chance of victory with their triple skirmisher flank but their fixation with the one unit of gutter runners led to me shooting them to pieces as they kept failing their charges thanks to fire and flee and the feigned flight ability.
Thanks for reading. I’ll try and post some other battle reports here for posterity
