I hope you guys have watched my first video of the Tyrion campaign. For the second battle of Trantio, I would really love to make it more interactive by asking both the Dogs of War and High Elves community to compose a 2500 pts army of their own so I can play them against each other Unfortunately, the DoW folks seem to be rather dead this day so I presume I just have to make the DoW list myself. Here is the army of Trantio to resist Tyrion's conquest (Based on DoW 8th edition fanbook of Mattias Elliasson, that had been allowed in many US and UK tournaments). Merc General: Full Plate, Barded Whorse, shield, DawnStone, Orge blade, the other Trickster's Shard, Weaponmaster (+1 WS, reroll ONE failed roll to hit per combat round) 235 pts Hireling Wizard Lord: lv4, Life magic, Staff of Fickle Fortune, Talisman of Endurance 265 pts Paymaster: Brace of Pistols, Heavy armor, hand weapon, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of preservation, Paychest (very complicated rule, I will explain if you ask!) 154 pts Core: 10 Duellists with pistol (musician) 100 pts 12 Marksmen of Miragliano 197 pts (the best xbows in the universe!) 36 pikemen full Command 318 pts 11 Voland's Venators 350 pts Special: 30 Paymaster's Bodyguards in Horde Full command with Banner of Miragliano (reroll 1 to hit in both shooting and close combat) 374 pts 10 Pitfighters with handweapon, Javelin, shield and light armor 120 pts Rare: 1 Galloper Gun with Bronzino 155 pts 2 'normal' cannon 2*110 pts Total: 2490 points (made with Battle Scribe) What do you guys think? Look stronger or weaker than your 'normal' armies? Of course, I know this army is super fluffy

Cool list. Heard of them but never used them.
Are the brace of pistols used as paired hand weapons (// Ogres) ? Do you need the champion with the pikemen?
- No flying - 2 units with ranks - plenty of shooting (somewhat short range with the xbows and javelins) - life magic to replenish the hordes
How do you deal with Silver Helms or Dragon Princes?

The brace of pistols is just for some some tactical possibility but the Paymaster is definitely using his handweapon and Enchanted shield in combat. His survival is a must for the Dogs. Also with the chest's bodyguards, he can add 2 more Str 5 WS4 hits, so he can't be said to be lacking in offensive department. Yes, a brace of pistol can be also used as a pair of handweapons, which I use on my Maneater units mostly. A unit of 3 Maneaters, 2 with brace of pistols the champion with Great weapons have 10 Str 5, 5 Str 7 WS4 hits slapped in with Stubborn, Swiftstride is one of the nastiest a DoW general can muster. In theory, all three big DoW units should never have anything to fear from Silver Helm or Dragon Prince unit of the same point range. Pikemen, if they get charged in the front, have Str4, five ranks worth of hits and ASF (so High Elves can't reroll here). Bodyguards with Paymaster are stubborn and have 30 Str 5 WS4 on offer (rerolling all 1s to hit). Voland's boys even with 1+ Armor Save would not want to get charged, but they will wreck things up if they charge, especially with The Merc General in tow. The Duellist become super in the 8th edition, while Pitfighters are like Dryads but have Javelins! The only High Elf unit that really annoy the DoW are the Phoenix guards. That's the only reason why Life magic is picked (of course replenishing the horde is a bonus!) To be true, this is quite a friendly list. I can always up the ante by adding 2 super cheap Light Cav units, 3 Maneaters and 10 Mengil's Manflayers (those guys will devastate any Asur battleline😉).

Five ranks worth of hits? How do you do that? I thought only Elves could do that.

Nah, pikemen are like what the Elves were in the time of Aenarion. Elf spearmen have Fight in Extra rank, Martial Prowess plus support attack so they fight in 4 ranks normally and 5 in Horde. But pikemen still keep the Fight in 3 ranks dated back from the 6th edition (thank GW for no update) so with support attack of the 8th, they have 5 ranks worth of poking. And If you are rich (and patient) enough, you can put 60 pikemen Horde on the table and every single one of them can skewer any fella foolish enough to charge them in the front. They are essentially, the only human rank and fight infantry that can dish out the hurt to the Elven elites (at least during the first turn).
For example, a 60 strong Horde of Witch Elves charge a 60 Republican guards on the front (no champion for WE and no Ricco just for simplicity. 40 attack hit on 4, no reroll for 20 hits (with 4 poisons), wound on 4, so 8+4+2 (murderous prowess, i'm very generous!) The Republican Guards have full plate so save 7 wounds out of 14. They strike at the same time 60 attacks, 30 hits, 15 dead witches. The little girls will roll snake eyes to stay 🤓

Nice list!
Also what rules are you using for your Dogs of War? I've got a copy of the unofficial 8th ed ones and wondered what your thoughts are on them?
Also, maybe more of a house rule. I can't find it in the Paymaster rules, but if you're using the chest, it makes more sense to me for the Paymaster, chest and bodyguards to go to the centre of the unit rather than the front rank?

I used the standard Warhammer army Projects DoW books with some old 5th edition rules to make Dow competitive

I quite recently started building my DoW army. I just wanna say that I thoroughly appreciate your battle reports and army lists mahbruck, it's difficult to find DoW content. Would you mind being a bit more specific about which parts you've implemented 5th edition rules? Just wanna try to get a good picture of where DoW are a bit weak and in general learn as much as I can Cheers!
