Brand new battle for this week. This time, the Dwarfs faced a High Elf expeditionary force! Barak Varr, the lone seaport of the Dwarfs and the home of merchants and traders of all sorts. It is also the home of the sea engineer's guild who build massive iron ships that patrol the waters near the port. Usually, it is well defended from attacks, as the Border Princes protect the area and the hold itself is said to be impenetrable. Today, a High Elf fleet has parked itself by the entrance to The Black Gulf. While still allowing merchant ships in and out of the Gulf and therefore Barak Varr, the Dwarfs didn't take this lightly. They patrol the area and they will not allow a foreign fleet to blockade passage to the port.
King Byrrnoth Grundadrakk has sent his iron ships and a throng down to make sure the Elf fleet moved. As the throng approached, The High Elf army disembarked. Ready for battle.

Well, it was a game in which the high Elves failed a very important charge and were left to dry in under 15'' range in front of an Organ Gun and Thunderers. Though with the current High Elf set up, the Archmage and the Swordmaster are the main threat. We'll assembling some more soon that will add a 3rd threat at least in Dragon Princes.
Thanks for the reading!

Another quality report. The high elves could have definitely taken some more from the game if the Archmage got better lores vs Dwarves. But then if a Purple Sun or Dweller or Pit of Shade went through, the battle would become very short for the stunties as well. I think to enjoy the most out of 8th edition game, the armies should never put all the eggs in 1 or 2 baskets. At 1500 pts, playing MSUs would make the game last longer than turn 4 most of the time.

thank you Mahburck!
We'll definitely try High Magic (recommended by the High Elf Forums) or the more common Shadow/Death loses next time. In this case, the Dwarf list was quite strong while the High Elf was more thematic in nature and overcompensating (lvl 4) for lack of models.
More battles to come though!

I enjoyed the report including the pictures and the bit of background information at the start.
Regarding the battle itself it kind of irks me as a dwarf player to see the dwarfs go two whole turns with zero movement at all.
The Dwarven bsb proved crucial! It was good to see the skycutter in action and good on the Seahelm for taking out the Organ gun.
Reading that battle report i found myself actually rooting for the high elves which is very rare. Them attempting to kill the Organ gun with shooting was always going to be a long shot.
Good report.
