Hello all! Boda her with a question. Later this year after my wood elf project I plan on doing a stirland empire army. But I'm going to make the army mainly out of free company troops. So I need help. I want the units to be unique. What are some good companies to add to these units? 28mm is what I'm looking for. Any help would be wonderful!

I recently found warlord games Pike & Shotte line of models. Really liking some of those for empire troops, although they may be too uniform for free company. Perry Miniatures War of the Roses "Mercenaries" could also work well.
EDIT: Can't beat the price on the Perry miniatures either; the Mercenaries are a plastic box of 40 models for $25.
EDIT2: In fact, the more I look at Perry minis the more I'm inclined to like them. They're marvelous for Brets too.

They're fantastic, so long as you're not trying to integrate them with GW models. GW is 28 (maybe even 30)mm heroic scale, Perry is 28mm true scale. Perry minis look rather... small... next to GW minis.
Having said that, if I were starting a new Empire/Bretonnian army instead of expanding an existing one, I'd go Perry Brothers all the way.

Yeah I have some of the War of the Roses infantry and they look great - but as you said they do look a bit off astride heroic scale GW. I just have them separate and all is well! I would recommend them to anyone - great prices too. One of the more drastic examples.

I honestly don't have a problem with the scale so long as they are kept in separate units.
Humans vary greatly in size after all. I think Perry minis can fit in nicely, they are just a bit more slight and slender than the GW models as well as possibly shorter.

I quite like this brand for cheapish 28mm human minis. I still need to assemble these guys.

The Frostgrave plastics might be an option. They have regular soldiers, cultists and barbarians. mixing these up should give you plenty of variety. they are a little weedier than GW but some heads and weapons can go between ranges. number one and three are Frostgrave bodies and so are heads one, three and possibly four.

This unit came from 2 boxes of Perry Mercs which included the spares to make 36 pikemen/Halberdiers, 24 xbowmen and 20 handgunners. The size is perfect for all human models from early WF 7th Edition backward. The problem is the sculps are not at all close to the details and crispness of later GW plastics and absolutely pale before the Perry's DoW metal range. In the end, I dumped the rest of the xbowmen and handgunners and ordered a bunch of Marksmen, Besiegers and GW 7th edition hangunners. Cost me all my future kidney replacement fund but at least saved me tons of time from straightening the blurring mold lines At the moment, the company producing mass units that is closest to GW plastic quality is Victrix. Pity they are only dealing with Ancient Historicals for now. I'd kill if they ever move to Medieval/ Renaissance period!

Wargames Foundry's huge range of historicals might be worth a bit of browsing? Check out these 'Sea dogs and adventurers' for example: Or if you like older minis, Ex Citadel 'Mercenaries': They have loads of sculpts, click around on their site (also Casting Room Miniatures).
