Finally managed to get a battle in. Caught up with a mate I hadn't seen in a while and we whipped this out. I controlled Beastmen, he controlled High Elves. Both armies are my minis. The High Elf force was unique in that it was missing any Lord level leadership with only a hero and a Bsb. In universe wise we saw this battle as taking place some time after our epic Battle for the Phoenix Crown where all the High Elf lords were slain. The Battle for the Phoenix Crown was an epic multiplayer 12500 point battle i hosted some time ago where the High Elves had 8 lords in total and all were killed during the course of the battle. Despite this that overall battle was a draw however Malekith was still alive at the end...... that was then... and this is now.... the weakened High Elves were set upon (not ambushed) by a herd of Beastmen led by infamous nuisance Hoodhorn the Rabbit Lord! 2050 point battle The High Elf force was joined by fellow hater of Chaos and those that smell... Spikus Hammerhand Some eefl rules in effect for this one. Druk and Jabberslythe Elder come from the expansion section of this forum and Spikus Hammerhand is from the Stormcast Eternals draft 3 list of the Army section. Gnashhoof and his Minocrew stand next to the Pikminotaurs (out of shot) ready to inflict some pain on the pointy ears. This is a battle of bragging rights between Gnashhoof and Hoodhorn. Here they are at the start of the battle discussing the terms of their wager before they get to hacking.

Turn 1 both armies advance. Shooting damage for the High Elves is negligible. Jabberslythe eats the charge from the chariot, holds and the Centigors flank charge next turn. Pikminotaurs engage the Seaguard. Elven hero in the front rank does some damage to the whittled Pikminotaurs (Tzeentch marked Minotaurs with 6+ ward save) The badly wounded Druk (1 wound remaining per dice) lines up Lord Spikus. The White Lions had all been eliminated by this stage. Druk gets the rear charge on Lord Spikus but is slain after inflicting some damage with the impact hits. Unfortunately not many more photos were taken.

Centigors engaged with the Swordmasters with the Jabberslythe Elder lurking. Gnashhoof loses part of his bodyguard. With Druk dead Lord Spikus is free to engage the rest of the Beastmen army. Lord Spikus faces off with the Hoodhorn Crew. The result of this combat will be crucial....to the Victor good the spoils....

The Jabberslythe Elder chases the fleeing Swordmasters but they escape it rolling an 11. His spurting Bile Blood accounted for 3 dead Swordmasters which was amusing. Meanwhile things were not going well for Hoodhorn and his Crew although there are no pictures. The remaining Minotaurs are slain leaving Gnashhoof standing alone enraged. By this stage he was actually up to 10 attacks. The final scene of the battle. Gnashhoof is brought down by weight of fire after butchering the Bolt Thrower crew. Victory to the High Elves!

I find it funny and thematic you leave the models fallen over

That's crazy that bow fire took out a minotaur character. How was he kitted? Mine usually has a 2+ armor (sometimes rerollable depending on character tier and points) so not much low strength anything gets through his defense

That's crazy that bow fire took out a minotaur character. How was he kitted? Mine usually has a 2+ armor (sometimes rerollable depending on character tier and points) so not much low strength anything gets through his defense It was a fair bit of luck. The real damage was done by the bolt Thrower before Gnashhoof killed it. Single shot ended up rolling 3 for the Multiple wounds. That said my opponent rolled something like six 6's to wound in that final volley to take down the Minotaur Lord. This was not a competitive battle. Well the battle was competitive but the lists were not. I deliberately didn't field any Khorgor or a Bsb for example. We both had fun and the battle told a nice tale which is the main thing. Gnashhoof has a 4+ armor save with a 5+ ward save. He isn't super hard to take down but can dish it out with his great weapon. In friendly games Gnashhoof is set in stone and he always has these saves/armor so we remember. His crew run an easy to remember 475 points which is exactly the same as the Hoodhorn Crew. In the past i have run the various different competitive Doombull builds vs various opponents but now that i don't really play competitive players anymore Gnashhoof has found his hoofing in my Beastherd. In the 475 point pick off for Beastherd supremacy it was Hoodhorn and his crew who won....fittingly running down Gnashhoof and his Minotaurs...for control of the herd.... My thoughts were this battle would help inspire me to get some more Beastmen painted for a larger upcoming revenge battle ........ This battle will (painting pending) feature a new general to lead the Herd with Hoodhorn taking a step back. The big bull is waiting...but not yet ready to be unleashed.... Twin Ghorgon, Jabberslythe Elder and Elemental of Beasts will be unleashed.... 1100 points of goodness 1375 if i include Druk.... it's all just too much
