I'm looking at picking up a Tomb Kings army. Of course with GW discontinuing the line, the models have become quite scarce (and more importantly quite expensive on the secondary market). It is possible to get some of the models for a decent price, however, any of the new sculpts (Sphinx, Tomb Guard, Necropolis Knights, Sepulchral stalkers) are unrealistically expensive. By unrealistic, I simply mean more than I am willing to pay for them. So my questions is (and this is guess work at best), what do you think are the odds that GW re-releases the Tomb Kings and within what time frame? The re-release could be of the entire line or the most recent sculpts (with or without new additions) or through the "made to order" service. Which models are the most likely to be released, if any? What format of release would you expect? For the sake of this discussion, by re-release I am only referring to the release of models, irrespective of any new content/rules/battletome in AoS. I only have interest in the models and don't really care what takes place in AoS. Cheers & thanks!

I have a heap of spares that I would be keen to part with for a reasonable price in bulk - not looking to price gouge I think the chances of a return are low given recent technology advances of the squats I mean dwarfs

The odds of WFB returning are slim, the odds of Tomb Kings is around nil! You may get some sort of AoS-i-fied Tomb Kings I guess. Otherwise you have to look at getting an alternate source of the models. There are a few around

So nobody thinks that the models will be made available through GW's "made to order" program?

The chance is minimal, methinks. But you can easily buy a bunch of cheap Warlord Egyptians and paint them as dead as possible. Save the money for the irreplaceable/improxiable like Necroknights, characters and the Casket...

I did actually find the first crucial bit to make a casket... www.crocodilegames.com/store/itemDetail.cfm?prodID=220&catID=23I've never ordered from them before, so I can't be sure if it is 28mm scale or not. Of course the GW Casket of Souls is one of the nicest Tomb King models in my opinion, so I'm not sure if I would even want to create a proxy.

Possibly might pop-up on the "Made to Order" once their focus on the Death faction happens in the next year or so.
The Order "Made to Order" came before this year where it's gotten a ton of focus with three armies.
Nah, their tech has little relevance on the rest of the setting(just like Old World dwarf ironclads didn't revolutionize sea warfare). Undead don't use tech advances anyway.
It's the IP that hurts the return of the Mummy-er-Tomb Kings.

Very slim odds I would say.

Sounds like I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for them. Stupid GW.

I agree. If I were in your situation, I wouldn't wait.

Maybe check out Mantic's stuff? They released a not-Tomb Kings army recently.

Yeah, I don't really expect GW to come out with anything that won't cost more than $100. The simple fact is that it's too easy to find alternate skeleton models and GW simply can't sue other companies for making skeletons so they won't produce them.

odds are slim to nonexistent, you'd be better served to look at third parties for your Tomb King needs I'm afraid...

Also don't be afraid to try out "counts as". There are a lot of really cool looking models out there that could possibly sub-in for sepulchural stalkers/knights. Also with a big enough bits box/imagination you could come up with some pretty cool conversions yourself. Let your imagination run wild!
