Pre game.
I had 77 spare points so went for a damsel in her knickers but thought I'd try for trans as I've never tried it before - mainly as I don't have a caster on foot...
I was asked in a previous battle report about the magic phase so in this one I’m going to include this in some more detail, I will mention the winds which will include any channels and in the case of TK the COS bonus. I will record it as 12/6 for who got what.
Tomb King army deploy
Bretonnia army deploy, trebs are just out of picture to the right.
Brets have 4 vanguard units while the Tomb Kings have none. Brets then take a knee.
Turn 1
Tomb King units move forward. Magic (7/5) 4 dice on spirit leech causes a miscast 10 models are killed in the unit and 2 power dice are lost. The Pegasus knights were the target and they lose a wound. With just one die left nothing else was cast. SSC also target the Pegasus and a further wound is caused removing a model.
Pegasus knights charge the chariots flank. Remainder of the army moves forward on the left flank while on the right the yeomen decide not to push their luck and withdraw. Magic phase (10/8 ) Curse of Anraheir was cast on the chariots but dispelled, Wyssans was then cast on the Pegasus but also dispelled. Throne of vines was cast on the prophetess and then flesh to stone on the Pegasus knights. This drew a dispel scroll. Both Trebuchets aim for the Tomb guard but scatter wide of the mark. Due to Settra’s influence the knights only manage a few hits and only 2 wounds, standard and flank cancel out so combat was just won on the casualties sustained.
Turn 2
No charges, spear unit reforms and Settra turns back around, the Tomb Guard move forward. Magic (8/4) Boosted Incantation of protection - no dispel attempt so the lore attribute healed 3 wounds on the chariots. Incantation of Vengeance was then cast irresistibly and easily made the casting value, 9 skeletons die in the unt and the hierophant takes a wound... and then disappears down a hole. The crumble effect of losing the hierophant was minimal but significant. 1w to casket, 2w to SSC and 2 TG. Shooting phase was just the SSC into one of the KoTR units, 4 wounds including a model under the hole. 3x6's and the armour saves were done, ward save from the S9 hit and yes another 6. Combat between the chariots and the pegasus was a draw with the pegasus just inflicting a single wound.
Paladin on the Pegasus knowing his comrades are in trouble charges the chariots.
The KoTR with the Lord stay still as they don't want to be effected by the incantation of vengeance. Yeomen continue to move around, one unit approaches the casket. Magic (8/5) Wyssans cast on the Pegasus knights, failed to dispel. Curse of Anraheir on the chariots, failed to dispel. With no dispel dice left shield of thorns was cast on the Pegasus. Both trebs fired at Settra and missed. Yeomen at maximum range caused 1 wound to Settra and his chariot. Despite all the buffs and hex's on the Pegasus and chariots only a single wound was inflicted and after combat was calculated the Brets won by 2.
Turn 3
SSC goes pop but everything else says firm. There wasn't a lot of movement on the tomb King side to report on. Magic (11/5) Doom and darkness was cast irresistible on 4 dice against the Pegasus, another 14 skeletons killed on the hand weapon and shield unit, the wizard took a wound 4 dice were lost. Settra tried to cast but was dispelled. Combat was a slow grind, a single wound on the chariots and a single wound in return.
No Breton charges, a yeoman unit tries to get an angle near the combat to prevent the impending charge from Settra. Magic (6/4) Transformation of Kadon was cast by the damsel with IF, every wizard took a wound and the phase ended. Treb misfires but rolls a 6 so nothing happened, the other treb missed Settra. Combat was simple, 1 wound to the chariots and finally they went pop.
ROAR!
Turn 4
Settra charges the Yeomen and the Pegasus knights. Tomb guard charge the Pegasus hero. Magic (12/5) Righteous smiting cast on 3 dice, which also brought back 3 TG. Doom and darkness was attempted but was failed to cast which ended that wizards magic phase. The casket attempted on all 6 remaining dice but was dispelled (not really that difficult as 8 was required on 5 dice) Combat in the middle started with the impact hits and then a challenge between the Prince and the Pegasus mounted Paladin. What with all that was going on the Tomb guard had the advantage and won the combat by 5, the Paladin was killed and so were the pegasus, the surviving yeoman fled 7" and Settra could only manage 4"
Charge! Both units of KoTR go headlong into Settra's flank, the dragon moves towards the fight. Magic (7/7) The curse and savage beasts were attempted but both dispelled. Settra challenges and the Bret Lord accepts. Due to Settra being flammable and the KoTR having flaming attacks the single unsaved wound inflicted 2 wounds to Settra, none of his return attacks did anything in return. The charge, standard (and BSB) along with flank and ranks beat Settra, the curse Killed 1 KoTR from the flaming banner unit while 4 were killed from the other unit.
Both units surged forward into the Tomb Guard.
Turn 5
Crumble test proves fatal for the casket on a double 6 but that was the only casualty. Spear armed skeleton charge into the knight’s flank and the Tomb prince drinks his potion of toughness. Magic (9/6) Purple sun on a 23 brings forth a dispel scroll. Combat brings forth a challenge from the Prince which is accepted by the lord, the silver lance of the blessed with the banner of eternal flame was negated by the dragon helm but the Prince was unable to inflict any wounds of his own 0/0, the remainder of the combat, charges, flank charges, ranks, standards and it came down to a single point win in favour of the Brets.
Roar, the dragon charges the death wizard. Magic (4/2) savage beasts is cast on a 9 with the Lord as a recipient as he was the only character in combat. Flesh to stone was cast on the KoTR against the skeletons on an 11 the death wizard was obviously distracted by the dragon as she failed to dispel. With all targets in combat the trebs were quiet. The challenge continues. 7 auto hits, 6 wounds 5 saves but as he’s flammable the prince takes 2 wounds, the lord is return is struck and takes a single wound. The Tomb guard strike with 3 killing blows, however with wounds inflicted to both knight units and wounds in return means the Tomb Kings win by 2. The Lords unit passes as they are stubborn but the battle standard bears unit needed the reroll.
The dragon combat was a bit one sided, number of wounds, breath and thunderstomp kills the entire unit.
Turn 6
No one crumbled. No movement took place. Magic (12/7) Throne of vines was dispelled but it doesn’t affect the flesh to stone this turn which remains at +4T. Transformation is also dispelled. The Combat between the Lord and prince continue. Again the prince fails to save a single wounding hit and succumbs. The tomb guard kill one of the left hand KoTR, they take two wounds in return and the skeletons also take a wound and the combat is drawn.
Damsel charges the Tomb guard. Magic (9/5) 6 dice transformation, cast on a 23 and failed to dispel. Flesh to stone again cast on the left hand KoTR but this time failed to cast. Tomb guard champion challenges the Lord, I have to accept and win the combat by 3 wounds over kill. Another tomb guard is killed but the KoTR on the left flank take another wound from the spear armed skeletons. The dragon kills the 7 remaining Tomb guard and the combat is won by 4 but it’s not enough to pop the spear armed skeletons which are all that’s left when the battle draws to a close.
497 victory points to the Tomb Kings and with bonuses 2294 to the Bret’s with a difference of 1797 points or a 20-0 victory.
