You guys ever heard or played this? It's pretty big at Boldo's Armory and is actually pretty great system.

Yes I know of it. I never played it IIRC it's sixth edition warhammer without magic essentially. It's a good system. If i was going to play historicals that's what I'd do. But historicals just have never interested me.

Warhammer Ancient is very cool, especially with its latest update WAB 2.0. There is no magic, so to spice thing up, one has to invent lots of special events during the game. At this moment however, one ruleset that is even greater is King of War historical, in which one can pit all kinds of historic armies of different periods against each other (heck, one even pit the fantasy vs real ones in the past).
I myself have always been very fond of Historicals even since watching a massive pike push (probably more than a thousand pikemen on a special table) during Warhammer Games Day 2005 in GW Nottingham. With the current fantasy trend is going and the explosion of many good historical rulesets lately (apart from the above mentioned, there are Hail Ceasar, Pike&Shotte, To the Strongest...etc), I think I would commit totally to Historicals, if, in the really unfortunate event, the Warhammer Fantasy finally die out.
