I like it as a variant army concept more than anything; I'd want the classic dwarf feel preserved for certain, as I'm not really fond of huge war machines and steam power in dwarves or humans (I never field a steam tank as empire for similar reasons). It's definitely a feasible idea, though not because of the end times.
My belief is every change approached here should be done with the mindset that the End of the World hasn't happened and isn't happening any time soon. If I wanted to play in AoS' fluff, I'd be there. I want 8th to stay 8th, in lore and gameplay alike. There's plenty of conflict for the races without bringing about the apocalypse.

Toro, I agree with you that I prefer to keep the end times separate. I might want to play a themed game or scenario that takes place during the end times but for my regular 8th edition games I play in the warhammer world prior to the end times.

I agree with you both Toro, and Danny, I like 8th for 8th, but I have added some models to my dwarf army, more specifically my chaos dwarves. I used the steam guard from scibor miniatures, they are a little bigger, and they are basically like a monstrous infantry for the dwarves, but not nearly that large. they work great, and that way I can keep my dwarves more in line with the 8th edition fluff, and since the chaos dwarves have fallen by the wayside I can make editions to their army and tweak it without feeling like I am taking anything away from 8th edition dwarves, who were my first army.
