Indeed nice and I also like the stripes on the trousers.

Lovely! Those are two models I don't have...yet!
The axe doesn't bother me so much. I don't know that I would've noticed if you hadn't mentioned it. The eye patch definitely needs another dark or cool color. Way too close to the hair and skin tone.
I love Felix too! You did a great job on his stripey pants and his sword as well! It has some nice detail nuggets in there!
Well done! You do honor to our game!

Nicely put. Felix's pants are classic, they never go out of style.

An other way with the eye patch is to carefully blackline the edges.

A little while ago I painted up the original Gotrek and Felix models. Off the back of doing that, I decided that I wanted all my slayer characters to have ‘remembrancers’ (or whatever they are called). Not only do I like the idea but it would add a bit more character to the slayer unit. I’ve not thought about any special rules so for interim gameplay, they’ll just be an extra slayer. With that decided, I just needed to pick some models to use. Cue the female barbarian adventurer from the Zealot Miniatures KS I backed a while ago (and a kick up the back side to actually paint her!). There was nothing fancy in the colours just 4 different shades of brown (including my old hex pot of snakebite leather). I quite like the pose, especially that bar the long hair and (covered) breasts there is nothing to distinguish it from the usual, male, barbarian models. With her Daemonslayer The second item completed, directly relates to the first, the recent upgraded Gotrek model. There’s been a bit of dislike for this model for a couple of reasons. The first is he now has full use of both eyes (historically he has only one and an eye patch). The second is he is wielding a fire slayer axe rather than his normal runic axe. A few peeps also dislike the shoulder pad. I have to say I really like the model. It’s not dissimilar to the plastic dragon slayer they released with the two axes. I of course ‘improved’ the model by getting rid of the circular base and put him on a ‘proper’ 40mm square 😉. I liked the scenic base so much that I was always going to do this so that I could put him in a unit of slayers as a unit filler. I also realised this was the first time ever I’ve painted any skaven. I appreciate that I didn’t put a lot of effort into them but (a), they are dead and (b), they are only skaven… The final models I finished were 8 additional dwarf clansmen with hand weapons and shields. Why only 8? Well they were the spare 8 models after I built 40 Great Weapon warriors when they purchased as part of the great summer purge by GW (and this takes the unit up to 39, I’m sure it should be 40 but I can’t find the final model). These followed the same basic scheme as the rest of the unit, namely warlock purple (a calamity, my hex pot is on its last dregs), kalabite green and iron breaker silver. Having two standards is deliberate as I wanted to add a bit more character to the horde of these guys, break up the unit as such. Dave England’s classic dwarfs have always stuck with me, especially his use of multiple standards. After painting them I looked at the rest of the unit and noted they had been painted (even by my standard), really basically. So I dug them all out and proceeded to touch them up, give them all washes etc. A load more work but I’m pleased with the result and so don’t feel the effort was wasted and that’s all that matters. I do still need to update the main banner though.

Dang, knoffles, your output is making me look bad!
They all look great! Well done! I REALLY like the Warlock Purple on Gotrek's axe handle. Really pops! Glad to see what he looks like on a square base as well! Fits nicely!
The hordes are looking great and I love the addition of the Slayer characters. That will add a lot of dynamic backstory to the unit!
Again, very well done!

They all look great! Well done! I REALLY like the Warlock Purple on Gotrek's axe handle. Really pops! Heh, I saw the model in the monthly painting challenge thread and was like "is that really a Knoffles paint job - where's the pink?" and then came here, and spotted it hiding on the axe shaft. It looks great - especially the brazier in the axe head, and I also like the hair and flesh.

Cheers gents. You know I love my warlock purple! The one used on Gotrek was actually the coat d’arms version. It’s definitely not the same as the GW hex pot. It’s more ‘watery’, almost a wash in texture. Still the colour is almost the same.

Awesome work Knoffles, especially with Gotrek.
At first glance I thought that was a male barbarian model!

I finally finished the horde of Miners. A couple of shots below, including the newly designed banner of Karak Silvertop. I'll be rolling this out onto all the other banners of the hold (at some point!). Before they were based: A close up of the banner design (yes it was drawn with a fine pen) The unit with a rough and ready basing (and a few other bits in the background)
