Hello,
My army list is here, changed a few things like I took 4 WLCs but close enough.
Empire dude had
- Luminark, Hurricanum & Lector on War Altar
- Two mortars and a steamtank
- 2 x 5 outriders
- 2 x 5 knights
- 2 times 40 swordmen with two detachments: halberdiers and archers
- lvl4 Light, lvl2 light, 3 priests
There was a loot token in the middle of the board
I had a loot token on my Stormvermin, Furnace and Skavenslave unit
He had a loot token on his War Altar and two Swordsmen units
Set-up
This was our first 3500 points game and the set-up has never been this exciting. I wanted to know where his cannons went so that my Furnace could be as far away from them as possible. Turns out he didn't have any cannons but I knew he still had a stank. So in the end he put the stank in the middle so that that I could put the Furnace on the left flank. This was a mistake on his part. Tadummmmm
Game over?
First two turns, ow yeah. Skitterleaping Cracks Call warlock takes out Stank and War Alter in one turn. FOUR WLC's hit and took out a Mortar, wounded the Luminark, wounded the Hurricanum, kill a priest and some swordsmen. The Plague Catapult killed 6 swordsmen every turn. Ratling gun killed one Outrider unit. I killed his arch lector and got one loot token. I reached the middle and got another loot token. Everything was coming upMillhouse FrozenFood.
What is happening here?
His knights hunted my WLCs (succesfully) but they keep overrunning and going off the board. My ratling gun kills a few but they make their panic tests.
My Stormvermin horde is in the middle and I decide to charge his stongest unit. What could go wrong? DETACHMENTS. He got to make a stand and shoot with his archers and got a flank attack with his halberdiers. Which made me disrupted. He also cast a magic Net on me which I could not dispell so I got another D6 hits per round. So I ran and he caught me. Which in turn exploded my 71 skavenslaves who suddenly had a lousy LD. I did manage to kill his other swordmen unit with my gutter runners but he also reached the middle with a unit so we each had 3 loot tokens.
Could the end be any more exciting?
My skavenslaves were holding the middle and were charged by the Hurricanum and 2 knights. They lost and exploded, he overran so had 4 tokens to my 3.
The only unit alive on my side (apart from the ratling gun and 2 rat darts) was the Plague Furnace with priest.
I destroyed his Luminark and reformed. I charged his swordsmen unit. If I won, I could overrun into the middle and get two extra tokens. If he ran, it would mean he lost that token and it was a draw. He decided to fight. The furnace is a gift from the Dark Gods, it could not be better if it had *** and was on fire! In the last part of the close combat phase, my champion kills his mage, giving him a LD of 7 instead of 8. It all comes down to the last break test. In the previous game we had the exact same sitation where he needed a 4 and he rolled a 3. Now, with the mage dead, he needed a 5 to win. He throws the dice and...
A 6. I overrun and win the game!!
Conclusion
I love scenario's! Second game where it all comes down to the very last dice roll!
Also
- Skavenslaves suck with a dead general
- Detachments can actually work for Empire, who knew?
- Skitterleaping Cracks Call Warlock, we adore thee
- 3 priests may have been too much but he got so many successful hatred rerolls it was no longer funny
Great game and a win for me, after my draw last time and a win before that I can officially say that my 2 years of not winning are over!
