Now, I’ve avoided playing with special characters over the years mainly as GW shunned their own models and rules but recently I’ve been looking at completing my Bretonnian army. Yes that’s right, once I’ve completed the models I currently have that’s it. No more. The wife will be pleased…
Anyway, I’ve not played with the Fay before as I believed she was on a 40x40 base and had to fit alongside my knights. I now know she’s on a 50x50 so I decided to buy this model from a well known auction site. (the seller obviously didn't know the base size either as the green stuff wasn't even dry)
I’m quite frankly shocked at the points value and I’d never consider taking her in a 2400 point list, well, not without a lot of consideration. Now the plan is a 4000 point game (vs Skaven) and even then the model count is low. Brets are expensive.
So how do I use her? I can already take a level 4 on Beasts, Heavens and Life, admittedly she gets +6 to her casting the lore of Life but do I want to be going that way? I was considering fire. I don’t actually have a lot of experience with the lores, I did have an empire army a while ago (beginning of 8th) and I’ve recently bought a lizardman army but otherwise I’ve had restricted decks to choose from.
Life is only any good with ToV and I’ve a ward save so don’t have to rely on regen, of course it would be good to heal my expensive army. I have dwellers available of course but I’m liking the flame cage to hit his frenzied troops. The Fay will be supported by a couple of level 2’s on beasts.
Now, I’m open to advise but I’m currently redoing some of my army so my choices have suddenly become limited (all my grail knights are having a new paint job and my men at arms are still Nisb.) What I do have through is
2x 15 KotR
1x 5 Errants
30x Peasant bowmen
4x 5 Yeomen
2x 5 Pegasus Knights
4x Trebs.
Characters will be the obligatory BSB and Lord on a Pegasus. 2x Damsels, Paladin on a warhorse and the Green Knight.
I’m hoping that in my first game with the Fay I get to go first, would be nice for a change.
Cheers
Greg
