Skaven generals:
I've been watching a lot of miniwargaming batreps and I've noticed that the skaven players are almost always bringing LARGE units of giant rats. Is there something about these guys that I've missed? They don't seem all that great when compared to slaves (cheaper, better tarpits) or clanrats (command options, weapon teams).
I understand the Squeel KnaWtooth upgrade for them, but I'm watching one now where it's just one large unit (55!) of giant rats with no Squeel.
Thoughts?

They're cheaper individually than clanrats, and less dependent on the general's LD bubble than slaves.
Of course, the offensive performance of all three units is similar - absolutely dismal. It's pretty much a matter of personal taste which one you use.

I've alwayw wanted to use them with the upgrade but never got around to it. Maybe some day.

I assumed it was for lore reasons as you would think many skaven armies would have a legion of hungry rats accompanying them/used to whittle the enemy.

I actually really like the look of them. I need to get more of them so I can do it too. Then I'll need to paint my Squeel!
