So I got a few models in resin, not many. Let say I have two bolt throwers(gamezone) with 3 legs each that need a little bit of sanding. Is it absolultley nessesary to go out and buy a respirator? And should I buy a second one for my 5 year old that sits next to me sometimes

I think a dust mask will suffice I would just do it outside and not breath the dust in. But then maybe I'm not as careful as I should be. I tend to just attack resin with a knife rather than sand which produces less dust

I use a knife as well. A simple mask should suffice

Mask for a small amount of sanding but make sure you GET RID OF THE DUST. You don't want that sitting on the table and getting kicked up each time you do something on the table. If I have to sand resin I do it with the model being held in the trash can while wearing a mask.

Wow, I didn't know resin was that scary. Luckily I avoid resin anyway for various subjective reasons. But good to know.

From what I have read today.
I think all plastic that you sand is basicly bad as if inhaled has no where to go in your lungs and stays forever. Lungs cant break down plastics.
Resin dust usually from what I can tell becomes smaller grin and is more easly inhaled.
Some resin is also a little bit toxic but its more when molding and liquid.
