Like many on here, in the wee span of my inconsequential life, I saw Battle Masters and HeroQuest and other boxed board games first. Dungeonquest, Talisman, others. Most notably: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DragonStrike_(board_game) came pretty darn close. It took a few years to truly understand that Warhammer Fantasy Battles was everything those boxed games could never be: LIMITLESS. Bound only by our imagination and wallet (and now in latter years, hours of the day). I love me a good game of Blood Bowl. I have enjoyed the Silver Tower. But the rich indefinite landscape of The Old World will quite likely never be matched with a $100 boxed set.
