If you want a dark tone and still highlight it the key is a minimalist approach. Fine, sharp highlights only. Knuckles, noses, cheekbones, top of ears, any sharp edges in the musculature.

Ironically I found the old GW dwarf flesh to be nice for highlighting dark skin.

Weib! So glad you made it!
As for your dark skin highlights, I'd try as Rick said. The Dwarf flesh tone should work well. I'd probably layer up to that, but that's just me. I like a smooth transition. Look at your pic of Mr. T. The areas where the light is brightest on his skin don't look dark at all. I'd use that as my color study guide.
